Yes, and they key word is "perception". That's what you have to explain.

Now the obvious difference between the rock and the brain, in terms of make-up, is that the brain is made up of neurons. But the brain, like the rock, is still matter. So what is it about the neurons that creates my perception? A detailed description about the processes of sensing doesn't solve anything since it doesn't imply materialism is True.

I believe that perception is a series of interaction in the neural network.

Uh, the OP states that the contention is that materialism is true from the start.

Can't be proven either way, materialism, nihilism and idealism all have the same limitations. Nihilism at least anknowledges that system of knowledge is closed.

A point of interest. Particles that obey Bose-Einstein statistics certainly interact with "what-is". They are then "physical" in the physics sense; the question then is, is their essence inertness, or its opposite?

Not choosing a udality could make me a pluralist or a contrarian, but certainly not a dualist.

I like perception as the basis of consiousness.
