Not to be pedantic, but Jerusalem is the Holy City for Catholics (and I'd bet most Christians), not the Vatican.
 
Ironically even though he was instrumental in getting Opie and Anthony thrown off the air for their sex in a church stunt, BD is now a pretty entertaining guest whenever they have him on.
 
O&A knew they were wrong for that, and their people at St. Pat's only made the situation worse.

And I think it had more to do with the fact that contestants in that stunt were wanted fugitives.

I'm not suggesting Donahue speaks for all Catholics or the Catholic Church. But there's no denying he thinks he's speaking for all (or at least American) Catholics. And anyone who at least presumes to represent Catholics has no right to get offended about much of anything when he is on record referring to the rampant child abuse scandals within his own Church as "hysteria".

Except that Atheists, nor most other non-religious groups, aren't a centralized organization that take directives on codes of conduct from what they believe to be an infallible source. The Vatican's deplorable slowness in responding to the sex abuse allegations is a matter of public record, and what apologies and remedies they eventually did offer smacked of lip service in the face of an onslaught of bad PR.

Now, I'm not attempting to paint all Catholics with the same brush, nor suggest that a person of the Catholic faith need be held responsible for the actions of the Church. But when I hear a Catholic, even if that particular Catholic is a fringe nutjob, complain about "Catholic bashing", I can't help but note the raging hypocrisy in such a point of view.

Child molestation and holocaust denial don't bother him in the least, but he has a problem with someone throwing an F bomb at the catholic church. :rolleyes:

Actually,

After watching the Penn & Teller video, I am now even more estranged from the faith I embraced, and to which I converted, 14 years ago. The church and its radical congregants try to put forth that the church, with its pope (who does at times, but doesn't always, speak with infallibility) are the direct line to God. It is a complicated and ceremonious way of brainwashing those of us, who wish to express spirituality and may believe in an omnipotent being of some sort, that there is only one way to believe. And the catholic church is not the only church committing this atrocity, not that I'm in any way defending it. I no longer wish to belong to any organized religion.

Adult Content? They could just be showing the titties that are painted over in the Sistine Chapel, I suppose.

As someone who grew up as a Catholic, I have to say I agree with you.

Personally, I think these people have let their self-proclaimed status go straight to their heads.
 
What makes me laugh is that he (Donahue) believes that CBS (Viacom) is really going to be that concerned about an adult oriented show on a subscription service, when another show produced under Viacom (South Park) has pretty much been allowed to offend absolutely everyone for over a decade.

The people who actually follow Donahue are not exactly the people that are viewers of P&T. Nevertheless this all irritates me because Donahue and other idiots are the ones that want to censor everything that I enjoy watching. That and the hypocracy that would occur if I demanded a pro-Catholic program were to be taken off the air for insulting atheists.

I suppose Donahue has a subscription to Showtime, lost his remote and knew he would be trapped in his chair the whole time; and needed the Catholic League to save him.

Holy See, Batman! Bill Donahue is in trouble. Catholic League Assemble!

I watched the show.......and it should offend Catholics, because it tells the horrific facts about how disgusting and evil the church is.
 
The Catholic Church declared it a sin to watch "The Life of Brian". That's probably why nobody ever heard of the movie.:rolleyes:
