Merged National Geographic Special - "9/11 Science and Conspiracy" Debunks Thermite Myth

Sorry, but again I want you to be quite clear. You believe that a man with no qualifications in building/structural design and analysis, or indeed in the specialist field that is tall buildings, to be an expert on these issues as they relate to 911. Really?

Bump for Gallileo

Dylan Avery was interviewed by Drew and Mike on WRIF Detroit on 8/28/09. The interview was prompted by the fact NG had sent D&M an advance copy of their new 9/11 show. Being a big fan of Drew and Mike I record every show while I am sleeping and listen to it at work later in the afternoon. They spent about 20 minutes 'interviewing' Avery. They pretty much tried to get him worked up for entertainment purposes, but they did try to get him to describe what he thought happened on 9/11 - even at one point shutting off their own Mics because he kept complaining about interruptions - but Avery refused to make any positive claims or offer any sort of explanations. All in all it was pretty funny.

If there is enough interest I will isolate the interview and upload it somewhere for folks to listen to.

The most appropriate search string would be: "mark roberts" 9/11 not mark roberts 9/11 and certainly not "mark roberts 9/11"

Even then, though, there are a lot of irrelevant results. Mark Roberts is a pretty common name, after all. Not that any of this matters so much, seeing as Google's result estimates are highly inaccurate in the first place.

First, 20 something hacks who write about souped up cars are thermite experts.

Now, those who study topless women in Africa are experts on nano-thermite.

What's next?

:woo

Someone who believes the Earth was created in 6 days out of thin air and the son of God was born from a virgin woman somewhere in the desert but then decided to wander in North America for no apparent reason.

using bing search
the string
mark roberts 911
returns 180,000 hits

the string
"mark roberts" 911
returns 83,200 hits

Why is this important again?

The former will return any indexed page that has the terms "mark" and "roberts" and "911." It is less specific and will return hits that have nothing to do with Mark Roberts. For example, the page could be talking about some guy with the first name Mark and then later talk some different person with the last name Roberts. The latter is more specific and will only generate hits for pages with "mark roberts" and "911".

Have you forgotten? History Channel specials are part of a world wide conspiracy. :)

I think we will see increasing amounts of this kind of programming. they feel the need to talk it down. It's too late though I think. In fact I suspect that they are shooting themselves in the foot.

The scientists who assert the thermite, actually studied the WTC dust and found the thermite. Whoever wrote the National Geographic website has not actually studied the WTC dust, their opinion is worthless.

Actually, iron oxide and aluminum are common in the materials found in the WTC, finding them and finding that they react like thermite is conclusive scientific proof that the building had rust and aluminum in it, and proves nothing else.

National Geographic, though, just to be safe, then asserts that if there was thermite in the WTC dust that it would be impossible to determine if it came from a controlled demolition.

That again is wrong. For one thing, the people who put the thermite in the WTC may some day admit it. Or an investigation could determine that it was done.

Wow, some fantasies will never die. In fact, with iron oxide and aluminum being common in construction it's not surprising that 'active thermatic material' was found in the dust. But maybe the workers will come forward and admit they put steel columns and aluminum cladding on the building, it could happen! :D

Also, not just thermite, but high-tech nano-thermite was found. Only the military has the technical ability to make nano-thermite.

That's a load I wouldn't want to step in. Anyone with the ability to grind up aluminum and iron oxide really fine can make nano-thermite. And, the CTs are now claiming that the 'matrix' the thermite was found in was to stabilize it, but what it does is keep the aluminum and iron oxide from being in the intimate contact necessary to sustain the reaction and allow the nano properties to come out in the reaction. And, it would take years to make the nano Al used in the reaction, as it takes 1 hour to make 10 grams. With a similar time frame for nano Iron Oxide, it would take over a decade to make enough nano products to bring down the building, or a heck of a lot of equipment. It's not like you're going to easily divert this substance from the military testing program. But, hey, never let reality interfere with a conspiracy or a good movie plot.
