What has Obama done?

I realize ahead of time this will probably not be a very popular thread on the forums, but like the title states...

What has Obama done of significance since he has become President?
.

approved FDA oversight for tobacco products.

raises the fuel efficiency requirements for all cars and trucks.

bailed out banks and insurers inorder to prevent a new Great Depression. this is why we are instead in a Recession today.

is working on forging a Middle East peace plan.

is working on making sure 97% of all Americans get healthcare.

arranging a new nuclear weapons treaty with Russia to limit each nation's tactical nukes to 1,500 each.

...and thats what I can recall at the moment. what did George Bush do in his first 6 months?

Well, Libby taught him how to play Magic the Gathering after the inauguration and we went through about 6 months there of just hanging out with buddies, playing Magic, and smoking cloves.

There was another thread regarding the whole posting legislation online for review and why it wasn't done yet. I linked to an article with a White house spokesman saying they were working on it but it was proving to be a major logistical nightmare. They made the promise before thinking about all the little details like thousands of people trying to access and comment all at once. I can't find that link now but basically they are working on it.

One more thing Obama has done is to increase the world's opinion of America. We are loved again!!!

Except in Israel they liked Bush better by 1%. Well there is no pleasing everyone.

It could be solved in five minutes if they just set up a public wiki editable by Senators/Congressmen.

Also, this would be an endless source of entertainment.

Setting the stage for a Republican rout next election.
What do you think that "rout" means?

Knowing both your politics and your tendency to live in a fantasy world, I don't think that you meant to say what you just said.

There's no honest reason to prevent doing it now, especially when major pieces of legislation are being rammed through that would benefit greatly from such transparency.

It's almost as if, *gasp*, transparency would be counterproductive to imposing the agenda?

Meet the new boss... but at least he's more charismatic than the old boss.
Having read Biscuit's post, I believe it.

Anything involving both the government and computers is not going to be delivered in a timely manner. Let's see if it's done by 2012, huh? Or at least by this autumn, as promised.

You don't actually know me, that is, beyond a superficial presence in an Internet chat room, so, I'm not the one living in a fantasy world.

I think I agree with a poster here who said that Americans really want a King.

I mean, the stimulus, cap and trade, and health care abominations are the work of Congress. Obama just pushed that they do something on those fronts.
I know. I was reading the Constitution the other week (as one does) and I suddenly thought: damn! --- why did I even care who was elected President?

People may call Obama the leader of the free world, but actually right now that role is played by the Blue Dog Democrats and the RINOs. And whoever buys them lunch.

I wish i could find that link and I will keep looking for it but there are obvious problems with doing it the way you have described.

The White House would want to maintain control of content for one thing and I can imagine security being another huge problem.

I think it is a noble idea but it may not be that practical to implement without some serious beta testing. With everything else on his plate I don't know that this is taking priority.

Defamed the medical profession in America by suggesting that physicians are routinely doing unnecessary tests and medical procedures in order to jack up their incomes. So, in addition to having lost the law enforcement vote as a consequence of calling the Cambridge police stupid in the Gates matter, he has PO'd the healthcare profession.

I have, it is true, reached my judgment of your character only by reading your posts on this forum (which, for some reason, you call an "Internet chat room"). But were your posts not sincere? Are you only pretending to be the sort of person who would make the sort of posts that you make?

If you're not just pretending to be that sort of person, then I do in fact know what sort of person you are.

So, can we find out your opinions by reading your posts, or are your posts massively insincere?

Your call.

Can we take this as an honest statement of your opinion, or are you only pretending to be the sort of person who could believe the sort of nonsense you're talking?

You have claimed that I can't know your opinions merely by reading your posts, and this presents us all with an acute epistemological dilemma.

This "sort of nonsense" is what doctors are fuming about, in the real world, outside the make-believe cocoon of the Internet chat room.

The number of jobs created or saved by infrastructure projects funded by the U.S. economic stimulus plan more than doubled in June from May, according to a report released Tuesday by a House of Representatives committee.

At the end of June, 49,377 jobs had been "created or sustained" by water, highway and public transportation projects, compared to slightly more than 21,000 jobs at the end of May.
