Ron Paul amazes again

they have no teeth. yes. but at least they send a message. its worth something.

Ron Paul is a coward and a fool.

While I think poorly of Paul, I fail to see how this defines him as a coward. It's slightly braver to go against the popular path then to just go along with the crowd.

I'm not sure if I'd say he was a fool, either, he's just playing to his fringe fanbase.

Just because the Paultards burned every bridge on the internet doesn't mean Ron Paul is wrong about every single thing and we have to find ways to spin his positions into laughable ones.

Ultimately, his vote "no" means about as much as all the votes "yes" in the grand scheme of things.

Where was the resolution about the sham of an election Russia had where the entire Russian mass media was a bonafide tool of Putin?

The news coverage of Iran's election is the new "summer of the shark" (sadly). Its the story because the summer is the slow season for news.

Kudos to Paul for not following the herd. And the mullahs can still go suck an egg.

Sorry, but I have to get off the bus wit the idea that the events in Iran are only the latest news fad.
I am pretty cynical, but cyncism is turning to nihilism here.

I admire Ron Paul for his consistency. He condemns the interference of the war in Iraq and other American meddling in the Middle East as arrogant and unwanted and hurtful to both America and the given country and he doesn't forget it when there's a cause both liberals and conservatives seem to agree on. No interference means no interference to him.

Plus, there is a good argument to be made that America should stay out of this one.

As opposed to what? All those other discussions in congress which are full of no-nonsense business, and don't include any rhetoric? Does Ron Paul only votes on issues which Congress debated without "empty rhetoric"? If so, he must have the shortest working week on the planet.

It is the height of hypocricy to be a congressman, vote regularly on all kinds of bills and declarations, and suddenly, where (for once) taking a principled stand -- if only rhetorically -- IS important, to claim all of a sudden that he "doesn't do" rhetoric. If he is so opposed to rhetoric, I suggest that he should resign.
You are incorrect. It is the job of the executive branch to conduct our foreign policy, which includes our various expenditure of hot air on matters foreign. Rising up in outrage is, IMO, a freakin' waste of time for our legistlative jagovs who have a crap load of budget and policy matters of pressing moment NOW on their plate.

So, no, Congress blows hot air all day on domestic matters, and ought to. Creating empty hot air blasts over what foreigners are doing is, IMO, not what Congress is in session to do. Leave the BS distribution in that area to our Presidents and executive agencies. They do the hot air on that just fine, and it's their effin' duty to do it.

I didn't vote for anyone in Congress to be a permanent drama queen. Since you don't vote here, IIRC, your desires on hot air input from Congress are a bit irrelevant, Sarge.

I am supposed to believe that of all the hot air talk congress is blowing every day, THIS is the one bit of hot air that it is just impossible for an honest man like Ron Paul to support? Get real.

Besides, we all know that the "domestic vs. foreign" issue here is a post facto excuse. First of all, it is Congress' job to declare war and make peace -- issues that might be relevant here. Also, you know very well that Ron Paul is also going to take a "principled stand" about domestic issues in opposition to everybody else, when it gets him headlines...

Bt the way, about your signature:

"If I owe Smith ten dollars and God forgives me, that doesn't pay Smith." -- Robert G. Ingersoll

Quite true. Which is precisely why the Rabbis in the Talmud said, "sins between man and God are forgiven by the day of atonement; sins between a man and his fellows are not forgiven until he makes amends to them".

It's been posted elsewhere, but his baffling action to refuse to sign a statement condemming the Iranian Government surely deserves it's own thread. He was the sole vote in the House, again. I believe he made (link?) an excuse saying we had no right to judge what is going on thousands of miles away. Any Paul fans wish to justify this? What would Paul have said during Apartheid in SA? Refused to condemn it?

Yes. It is perfectly consistent with the libertarian viewpoint to say that the United States has no say in how Iran governs its own affairs (or, by extension Apartheid in South Africa). There is nothing baffling about his actions. You may disagree with his stance, but he is sticking up for a founding principle of the Libertarian Party.

Yet Ron Paul pisses on Libertarian ideals again and ****ing again when he stuffs pork into bills. Not to mention he also pisses on said ideals when he associates with Truthers, who are ripping people off by means of fraud.

Travis,

Could you elaborate on Ron Paul's craftiness? I'm not saying this in a sarcastic manner, I'm actually curious...

I remember a time when the name Ron Paul generated countless threads encompassing pages and pages of discussion, mostly driven by his supporters.

And now?

Situation:

- Congress passes a bill that does nothing
- Ron Paul wants to do less than a bill that does nothing

Slow news day, perhaps?

Well, the election is over, Paul got his butt trounced in the primary, and a number of Paul's more...enthusiastic...supporters managed to get themselves banned.

Paul himself has gone back to being a minor, ineffectual congresscritter from a small district nobody cares about.

So aside from a dwindling number of conspiracy theorists, a few libertarian fundamentalists, and the sort of people who like to stop and stare at gory car accidents, nobody gives a **** about Ron Paul anymore.

Except for Bruno, of course.:D

I am paying for a ticket to that movie just to see Paul get punked by Sasha Cohen....

This thread is what we would call an aftershock.

The morally black and white nature of the situation in Iran makes it an especially juicy one.
