The Truth of Christianity vs. All Other Belief Systems

Fine, but this could be said about various works of fiction. The kids' tV series 'Ivor The Engine', for example, was set in Wales. Wales is a real place.
Yes and the Flying Scotsman and Doncaster Engine works mentioned in Thomas the Tank Engine have been independently verified as being real.

Oh so you don't think Christians have questions about anything? We are always asking for more wisdom and understanding that's why we are dedicated to study the scriptures, and we consider our pastors who teach Gods word right a gift from God.

Why would you think our faith is blind? It is certainly not blind faith that we have when we follow Christ. He sends us the Holy Spirit which leads and guides us. So what's do you pity? I have the gift of the Holy Spirt my friend, you just have no idea what you are missing out on, NONE! Christians may not know everything, but we know the one that does and he is not a liar. Better to believe God than not.

Christianity has stood the test of time and in the end every knee will bow and every toungue confess Jesus is Lord!
I know lots of christians who have questions about all sorts of things. I used to work with a Jesuit priest, whose work was about active galaxies.

You, Kathy, have an answer, and spend all your time looking for things to support that answer. As far as I can tell, the only question you ever ask is, "Does this support my belief?" If the answer is no then you ignore it, and call it evil, if the answer is yes then you proclaim loudly how amazing it is that all these things support your belief.

better to accept reality and admit religion is "lies to children" (see the science of discworld).

Grow up and learn the truth.

Science be praised!

Buddhism, Hinduism, Confucianism, Shintoism, and a lot of others are much older than christianity, and show no sign of disappearing. In due time, you will bow your head and confess Shiva ...

Then why does it always appear as though you haven't read the bible.

I'm sorry, but I do not beleive for a second that you are actually interested in knowledge. The fact that you can so flippantly claim an understanding of science, yet falter the moment someone asks you abuot it demonstrates that you have no interest in learning or knowing.

Why would you think our faith is blind?
You agreed to a deal where you'd read a book in response to someone else reading what you requested of them. Instead of honestly living up to the bargin, you pretended to read it and then claim how evil it was.

Your faith is blind because you refuse to learn.

It is certainly not blind faith that we have when we follow Christ. He sends us the Holy Spirit which leads and guides us. So what's do you pity? I have the gift of the Holy Spirt my friend, you just have no idea what you are missing out on, NONE!

So you have a magical force that convinces you are right?

Christians may not know everything, but we know the one that does and he is not a liar. Better to believe God than not.
You just said your faith was not "blind".

Now you are saying that you don't know everything and trust god to not be a liar. Do you not understand the definition of "Blind Faith"?

Christianity has stood the test of time and in the end every knee will bow and every toungue confess Jesus is Lord!
What test of time?

Why would you think our faith is blind?

1) because you are willing to overlook immense volumes of facts that show the Earth is billions of years old.

2) because there is no fact, no matter how profound or how valid, that will ever cause you to change your mind.

3) because you are willing to play semantic games, engage in logical fallacies, and torture the language in order to claim, along with your husband, that there are no errors or contradictions in the Bible.

O.K. Kurious Kathy, I answered your question, now you answer mine.
Why do you think you do not have blind faith?

Why would you think our faith is blind?
Because it is very simple non-kurious_kathy. You need no proof other then a book you think is written by a self-centered childish so-called god. Anything you don't like your so-called god doesn’t like too, that is so convenient for you, isn’t it.

Are you dedicated to study just the scriptures? Or are other books allowed. My brother is hyper-religious and reads his bible over and over and over. In fact, he won't read anything else. Do you think this is wise?

**snip**

Christianity has stood the test of time and in the end every knee will bow and every toungue confess Jesus is Lord!

Some of us will just do it too late, right? I thought the bible was pretty clear that not everyone will be "saved" in the end.

Her point is that you'll be forced to do it later, while being tortured for eternity.

This is because god and Jesus are loving.

But you only look for answers in one place - the bible. My point was that if nobody ever asked any questions outside those the bible could answer, we'd still be living in huts and riding ponies. For us to have progressed as we have, we had to question things and seek answers outside of the bible. We had to be willing to go outside of our comfort zone to learn and grow.

If those people who had thought thunder was caused by angry gods had never looked outside of their belief system, they could not possibly have learned what really caused thunder, and they'd still believe today that it was caused by angry gods.

You say you're "always asking for more wisdom and understanding" and that to find it, you're "dedicated to study (sic) the scriptures." You have to be willing to look outside of this narrow worldview to move forward.

I remember some old TV commercials that said at the end: "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."

I see you have chosen to respond to posts that give you the opportunity of a simple Godbot response.
You don't even seem to resemble a thinking human being anymore, and that is really sad.

Very sad.

Shouldn't that read Spurt? And, oh my, aren't you getting a little lewd and lascivious with this kind of talk? Oh, the shame! The shame!

Just because a viral meme doesn't go away easily, doesn't make that meme any closer to the truth.

and in the end every knee will bow and every toungue confess Jesus is Lord!

Heaven forbid. Let's just kill off all those that dissent, that makes it easier.

Seriously, though. I'm with Gibran on this one.

"Yesterday we obeyed kings and bent our necks before emperors. But today we kneel only to truth, follow only beauty, and obey only love. "

-- Kahlil Gibran

I kneel before no God. I kneel only to truth.
