Serious question: How do these two seemingly incongruous statements gel - in your view - DOC?

Even speaking (at times) in parables that the people of the day could understand and remember (remember some might only hear him speak once), the well read multi-lingual Jefferson still considered Christ's teachings the most moral and sublime ever given to man and that includes all the ancient Greeks that Jefferson probably read in Greek since he knew both Greek and Latin. I imagine if Jesus and Jefferson ever had a sit down together Jesus wouldn't have needed to speak in parables.

That doesn't answer the question. It's not even a good dodge.

Please answer the question how those two statements of yours gel together.

That's not an answer. It is a dodge. Answer the question.

If a messiah did come doesn't it seem logical that he would preach the most moral and sublime teachings ever known to man.

You don't feed babies prime rib. Jesus was speaking in ways the unlightened of that time could digest. That's why he spoke in parables.

I'm sorry, DOC, but - despite three readings - I fail to infer anything other than what seems to be a cognitive-dissonance-induced dodge

My question is simple

Please, try answering in a similar vein

TYIA :)

And Jefferson was a slave owner and this whole point is a dodge.

How can something be both "the most moral teaching ever known to man" and use slavery parables to teach that morality?

I notice that these quotes are presented without attribution or source.

I think DOC made them up himself.

No, those are actual Jefferson quotes, but besides taking them out of context to support his usual line of theocratic BS, I think DOC is pulling them from that fracking, white supremacist web site... again: (http://christianparty.net/tjchristian.htm)

A Google search of the quotes gave it away as a common source. What do you want to bet he'll claim that he didn't know he's using a racist website as a source... again?

DOC shows his true colors... again.

The above post is sad, it really is. No, I did not get those quotes from that website or that organization. But even if I did, so what, they're Thomas Jefferson's quotes.

Promise me you will never do jury duty. Especially on murder cases.

Your post is probably the sorriest post I've seen in my 2+ years on this site and believe me I've seen a lot. I must have really hit a nerve somewhere for you to make a post like the above.

Notice how you say, I "think" Doc is pulling them from the site and then say Doc will deny he knew it was a racist site. Yes without a doubt your post is the sorriest post I've seen in 2+ years. Truly sad.

This is a fair response to Mark's post.
But you still have an unanswered question:

How can something be both "the most moral teaching ever known to man" and use slavery parables to teach that morality?

I expect flat-out denial from the liar, but I can't abide people who call themselves "atheists" who are willing to concede and capitulate with the likes of DOC. I did the ******* Google search. I found that the qoutes shared the same source, a source that the liar has cited before and reflects his bigoted beliefs. Ergo, it is highly probable that the Christian Party site is the source of the liar's Jefferson references.

Possibly, possibly not. However, I will extend the courtesy of "benefit of the doubt" and assume it wasn't his source.
But I do so, only to expedite the current issue at DOC's hand.

DOC is claiming both that Jesus presented the most moral code known to man. Yet, Jesus used slavery as a parable to describe this moral code.

I think it is a very important point that DOC explain how something can be the most moral code we know and "simultaneously" use an immoral practice in positive allegory to this code.

Oh, I believe you but this an attempt by DOC to act the victim and to try to dodge a question about his messiah that contradicts all that he has claimed. He is trying to use your evidence of him as a chance to escape since he is obviously cornered.

I'd prefer to keep on track so that DOC will answer this question that shows his hypocrisy and constant flip flopping that shows that his messiah is not at all absolutely moral.

True to form, you divert your attention from what is relevant and spout farcically ironic waffle

I have asked you an exceedingly simple question

Several requests have been made by me and others (I'm flattered, BTW) for you to respond accordingly; something that you have resolutely failed to do

This thread has dragged on for far too long already without you (a) fulfilling your OP promise or (b) demonstrating the humility required of a Christian and admitting that you can't... and DON'T LIE and further the pretense that you can and have! You haven't!

What would your messiah do?

The best thing we could do here is to just ignore all of DOC's posts until he answers the specific question that we'd like him to answer. If DOC wants to use this forum to just talk to himself, then he should do so *literally.* If he wants to participate in a discussion, then he should be forced to actually answer questions.
