It's not a horrible analogy, it's an inconvenient one. That there are fewer sightings(if there are) simply mean leprechauns and unicorns are rarer, and better at hiding than bigfoot.

Sasquatch is by far the most encountered cryptid out of them all, and it baffles me that an imaginary creature could leave down tracks and throw rocks

Oh, I agree totally. Imaginary creatures don't throw rocks and leave tracks....but humans aren't imaginary, are they? Bigfoot on the other hand....

But it's perfectly reasonable to assume a great ape that is extinct threw it. You know, because everyone knows only bigfoot is capable of throwing rocks.

They believed it was bigfoot. You can't even kill bigfoot with a .30-06 rifle, and bigfoot can throw full 55 gallon drums. How ya' gonna bust an 800 pound, 8 foot tall gorilla?

They should have asked the Canadian Army for it's tank.

I totally agree and the reason they didnt is obvious. They already knew who it was and needed the suspense for what would have been an otherwise totally dud episode. ( and that was the suspenseful climax- even at the end of the trip for good measure- not only is BF smart enough to avoid camera traps in the woods[ except for Jacobs], he understands production schedules as well)
