Since you have seen some form of article that says "most" people want a new investigation (or you probably wouldn't have said that), asking you is a legitimate way of conducting research. It's the same reason we have teachers and professors. Can you imagine how unadvanced society would be if everyone was like you and just told a person willing to learn to go and figure it out for themselves?

He, as the person calling your claim into question, is not responsible at all for providing evidence in a court of law until you have provided evidence claiming your case to be valid. The burden of proof is on the prosecution, and so it is their right to go first to establish the validity of charges made against the defendant.

You cannot ask him to provide evidence against a point you yourself have not yet supported nor established.
