Vegansexual - The Rarefied World of Herbivorous Humans

At least this thread has become much more funny than it started off.

Puny humans unite! You have nothing to lose but your [insert label here]!

Not all humans are puny... just the vegans.

So I guess vegansexuals do not perform blowjobs (with neither carnivores nor vegans). For as you would know, drinking the sperm means you're eating a bunch of tiny little candidates-for-human-beings.
Umm... are we seriously to believe that you can't even imagine the possibility of a blowjob without swallowing? Where have you been living? In my country (the USA), the standard joke about blowjobs is how common not swallowing is and what a rare find a woman who will swallow is. (I'm not commenting on its accuracy, but surely nobody could live here and not have HEARD of the distinction between the two practices before.)

I would not want to be intimate with somebody whose body is literally made up from the bodies of others who have died for their sustenance.

I guess that limits their dating pool to... nothing.

Other things that causes some people to be incompatible to other certain people:

*Religion
*Politics
*Moral differences
*Appearance
*Personal hygiene
*Fitness level

Actually, none of those things makes for incompatibility. It's talking about them all the time that makes for incompatibility. A religious, conservative, hot, fit, wellgroomed person can find a perfect mate in the exact opposite so long as they don't point out the difference in every conversation and try to to change them.

Which is totally against human nature, of course. So, ironically, it's self-fulfilling prophecy when you say such things make for incompatibility. They really do, but only indirectly and only because people can't keep their mouths shut on such things.

Sure. And I'm sure I would've been happy in a relationship with a religious woman who was constantly busy taking religious classes and getting involved in purely religious circles, and that there's absolutely no chance that could have impacted my own happiness in any way, shape, or form as long as we never ever discussed it around the house...

Sounds like the ideal relationship! Sign me up! :D

Yeap, as long you don't talk about it, there's no chance it can impact you at all! Vegetarian vs. meat eater, for example, can't possibly influence anyone on, say, where to buy food, where to go to restaurants, or even what circles people live in or around (for example, around hunter circles)

What about people who feel morally superior to those who consider themselves morally superior?
Is somebody a sanctimous woo because they wouldn't want to date somebody they consider to be a sanctimous woo?

Oh!.... Then again maybe that thought didn't cross their minds? Silly me.

As I understand it, it's a case of consent, and the fact that creatures other than humans can't.

I don't date non-vegans either. Am I a sanctimous woo now because I don't date people who I am strongly and deeply incompatible with?

How does a personal choice cause deep incompatibility, unless you're sanctimonious about it?

So they feel morally superior to themselves?

Either they have low self esteem problems, have mastered Doublethink, or their heads are a'sploded.

As long as you don't divide the world up into us vs them or spew sanctimonious crap then no. As I said,

Don't get me wrong. I think it perfectly fine that people gravitate to certain groups and seek out mates with similar morals and values.

Go ahead. With the health problems that come with excess eating of red meat, it'll be a good darwinistic way to get rid of you.

I think there is a distinction to be made here.

Many people are talking about choosing to date only those who share and support thier philosophy (in this case veganism) because they feel that this will increase compatibility. Few are arguing against that.

The quote in the OP, however, specifically references vegans claiming it is unethical or immoral to date non-vegans and not just a preference based on percieved compatibility. This position, if one truly holds it, is sanctimonious and self righteous regardless of what criterion it applies to (dietary habit, religion, race, etc.)

Oral sex is consentual and fun, perfectly fine with vegans.

Yeah but it's people! You're eating tiny people! Do you realize this?? :)

Although I'll admit, vegan foodplay just isn't sexy, no one gets their rocks off with tofu and agar in bed.

Well, see. I am no vegan and then again I wouldn't rule out some tofu foreplay. It's all about how creative the person is.

And before someone asks the inevitable, breast feeding is compatible with vegans too.

:eye-poppi

That pretty sums it up. Thread closed.

Adendum: Who wants to marry someone who will blame you for murdering innocent animals anyway? And for every animal you won't eat, I'll eat three.

Must have been a slow news day.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't get myself that worked up over what other people choose to eat or not to eat. And more importantly, I can't get myself that worked up over the fact that other people get themselves worked up over it.

I mean really, that whole "I'm going to make a huge deal out of the fact that I eat meat just so I can wind up the vegetarians" thing is getting old. Just eat your hamburger and shut up.

... I think there is a problem however when groups see themselves as morally superior and look down on everyone else. This of course is one of the biggest criticisms of religion and I think it should be a criticism of politics.

It's woo. It's sanctimonious BS akin to the anti-abortionists.

Let's replace 'Vegan' with 'KKK'. I think all left-thinking people will agree that it would be perfectly ok for someone who is disgusted by racism to feel morally superior to a member of the KKK and refuse to have anything to do with them.

If you accept that, then it's purely a matter of degree; and then at what point does one transition from 'acceptable and expected ostracism' to 'sanctimonious BS'? Consider, for example, that by some estimates the human race is already consuming ecological capital at twice the replacement rate; and that it takes ten pounds of grain to make one pound of beef. By that calculation, meat-eaters are the most disgustingly irresponsible and wasteful creatures crawling on the planet, and are going to destroy us all by their selfishness - at least as bad as a grand wizard of the KKK, and possibly worse.

And yeah, I just had a dinner of noodles and ground beef.... sigh. Just asking.

Oh touché. Damn, that smarts.
