TAM Forum Party Net-A-Thon

Good grief. This is just a party, not a political statement. If you donated money, cool. Show up, have a few drinks (alcoholic or non), chat up a few friends, make some new ones, and show the world you have a freakin' sense of humor and/or fun.

Party!

The party has NEVER been limited to forum members. And that would certainly exclude speakers and so on, which is silly. I can name ten people who were at last year's who have never been here in their lives. But it's always been predominantly forum members, which is nice because we're a community. And we still are.

Nothing's changed, and no reason to think it would have. And I demand there be no quibbling or bitching over a party, because none of us are six years old.

Also, it's now called the 'WTF is Teek Wearing This Year? Party'

Then I think we should take it. But what about the money that has already been donated? If a transfer could be made...

I'm all for clean slates. But perhaps a new room would be far less awkward. Imho.

There's no need to move it anywhere. The room is still booked, Rebecca is still coming to TAM, so she can still check in to the suite, and the supporting organization is in place.

Which party are you talking about?

I agree.

well someone has offered IF NEEDED, and has a suite in the same hotel.

BUT...this very nice person does not want to take away the fun and excitement of a REbecca party unless Rebecca so chooses. It was simply made as an offer of friendship and if the other party is still on that's fine. I think just wanted to make sure there was a party!

I haven't been very active on the forum lately so I have completely missed the whole Rebecca being banned thing. I don't really care one way or the other but I have been in touch with Rebecca and here is what I know:

1. The party is on.
2. Anyone who wants a refund because they don't like the name, the location, the people, Rebecca, me, or anything else, or if you simply want your money back for reasons of your own, all you need to do is ask and it shall be done.
3. The party is on.

Hear, hear!

Claus, if you are putting signage up (I was actually planning on taking care of that myself when I got there), I would ask that it not be called a Forum party because as we've iterated, we don't want to limit it to Forum members.

 I'm no party pooper, all right? I just wanted to know if there was another option.

That's what I said in the previous page: Certainly not. Let's party till nonsense blacks out, resentment leaves the room and all rules give up on us and leave us alone.

Saturday night at TAM is PARTY TIME. We go to parties to meet friends, and this has nothing to do with forum stuff.

No need to. Kittynh has organized a corkboard, and I'll bring slips for a big time table for official and unofficial events, from the Activities spreadsheet. The Forum table will be next to it, and staffed by people who will answer any questions.

There hasn't been any restrictions on who can attend, but it has been called the Forum Party for quite some time.

We could simply call it "The TAM6 Party". That's what it is, after all.

SO to clarify things: the party that was called something is still called something and is still happening in the place it was always going to happen at the time it was always going to happen and the same people who were always going to go are still going.

Personally I think the party should be cancelled and the money donated to a good cause (such as "American's against beige") since I won't be going - yep that's right a party sometimes known as "The Forum Party" and I'm banned* from it.

*Banned as in "I won't be in Las Vegas or even the same continent as the party".

Of course, we should be careful not to publicise this at TAM as 'the TAM 6 party' on the bulletin board, because if 800 people turn up, we're screwed.

It's always been a sort of forum-plus-special-guests event, I suppose. It would be a disaster if it were perceived as any sort of official TAM6 party. There simply isn't the resource for that.

I just like to throw flies in renaming ointments. But it's a valid point I think. For practical purposes it's probably sensible to call it the Forum Party for this year, maybe? Or the Party Formerly Known as the Forum Party But Not Actually A Public Event But More A Sort of Internet Community Thing.

I dunno. Not that the room number will be on the bulletin board anyway, it never has been. Rebecca always gives it out individually, which is a sensible tactic.
