You have devolved the meaning of the word commodity by posting a definition of commodity which includes almost everything in existence thus rendering the word meaningless for the purpose of conveying ideas.
  • Asserting something doesn't make it true.
  • Not everything in existence is traded.
  • Nearly every dictionary contains that general definition (I didn't make them up).
  • Just because you don't like the definitions provided by Merriam Webster, Oxford and others doesn't mean that the definitions are wrong.
A commodity has inherent almost universal value.
But one useage of the word.

I made myself perfectly clear on education. I will not Explain myself further if you are this dense.

You did not make yourself "perfectly clear," but no matter. I'm not sufficiently interested in your answer to press the point.

Wilson should not have participated in the versailles treaty.

Agreed, but it's not relevant to the issue of how the US got into World War I, and it's at best peripheral to any analysis of the Roosevelt Administration's actions prior to American's entry into World War II.

Look, it's not that complex. We had to go to war because germany declared war on us and we were attacked by the japanese. The question for debate is, was pearl harbor wanted and/or provoked?

And I've asked you repeatedly to provide some specific evidence that supports either contention, rather than your vague assertions that the US "took sides" and "violated international law." I renew my request.

I was the one that initiated the use of the word. Should not I be the one to use the definition that I think best conveys the idea that I am presenting?

I have no problem with that. I just noted at one point that you declared categorically that money isn't a good.

Only if you are a complete solipsist and believe there is absolutely no value in communicating clearly with other people. Otherwise you might want to use definitions that have consensus acceptance in a particular context.

Got it, if I use the first definition in the dictionary of a word that I am using to convey My idea than I am egocentric.

:boggled:

As I said, if you don't mind not communicating, that's fine with me. And, judging by the majority of your posts, not communicating doesn't bother you even a little.

You let me know which of the definitions of the words I use I am intending to use. Make certain that it is not the common definition as this is the one I currently use.

No, even better! You tell me my thoughts and you can express my thoughts as you see fit.

A commodity has inherent almost universal value. Money does not have inherent or universal value. Would you like a list of worthless money?

Nothing has inherent or almost universal value. All value depends on subjective preferences and contingent states of the world. For instance, pork bellies would be pretty worthless if people were vegetarians.

I'm surprised that 90% of voters said "no".

I was expecting a lot more.

commodities only have the value that we all agree to apply to them. gold is no more valuable then poo unless we agree to it.

Abortion is not that important. Take some responsibility for yourselves women!
Wow trying telling that to a rape victim you insensitive [Rule X].
Comparing Paul to MLK is either absolutely hilarious or a delusion so strong it borders on insanity.
It's insanity. I just read an article in the New York Times that had a Paulite comparing Ron Paul to Ghandi.
The article.
Words escape me. Fortunately, JREF forums have a wide selection of emoticons.

Smokers wanting a match will ask for a timber.

Actually, I smoked for many years and when I wanted a match, I said, "Do you have a match?" My husband still smokes and has never heard of asking for a timber when one wants a match. Do you perhaps live on Diego García or some other remote and isolated small piece of land?

I cannot possibly read your thoughts. Most of the time I don't even know what you're trying to say. That's my point, Humpty-Dumpty. (And before anyone reports this, it is not an insult but instead a reference to Through the Looking-Glass. "Glory! There's a nice knock-down argument for you!")

Why I'll bet some of your friends are even black, right?

But I'll bet very few - if any - are women.

So you're saying that if a misogynist becomes president, he will automatically take the rights away from women? You're being prejudiced towards the misogynist.

A racist in power will always make laws to hurt the certain races?

If that last line is true, than Ron Paul is most definitely NOT a racist.

Why? Why do you want to keep the troops in iraq?
Ron Paul isn't the only candidate that doesn't want to keep the troops in Iraq. There are other sharks in the political sea, many of which have sizable bites.

Why do you want big government and out of control spending?
I don't think that anyone really supports "out of control spending". As for why I support big government, it's because I have not been suitably convinced that government is automatically wrong. Once upon a time, maybe.

For every thing a government has done wrong, so have corporations. The "Free Market" isn't the wonderful God people make it out to be.

Why do you want the IRS and the CIA?
Because I can't have the MIB. :(

There's a few reasons I won't support Ron Paul besides his political stance. One of which is that he will never make any big waves. Most of the known world hasn't even heard of the man; his main support seems to be a handful of VERY vocal advocates on the internet.

Ron Paul is unlikely to enact any of the above, because he's unlikely to ever make it into the White House. Even if he did, I'd still have to trust the man, and I simply don't. Not that I trust almost any politician, but I digress.

Regardless, it is not up to me to explain why I won't support Ron Paul. It's up to you to explain to me why I should. And so far it has not been very convincing to me, since it seems that I need to buy into conspiracy theories and declare governments as my enemy on principle alone.

You're making me blush.

Politics, however, is the one place where my powerful Logos can't quite make it alone. Usually why I avoid them, except to point and laugh at the crazies.

I'm honest. I'm not PC like some people.
I'm honest, too. Yet, surprisingly, I don't make misogynistic or racist statements... because I'm not a misogynist or racist.

"Honesty" just means that you speak what you really feel, and "PC" just means "Doesn't like generalizing", with your usage.

Well if you like the idea of bringing the troops home, ending the fed and the CIA, having a strong national defense, cutting spending and taxes, getting rid of the IRS and the income tax, more money for your pay-check,legalization of marijuana and protection of the 2nd amendment, then vote for Ron Paul.

I voted for him. A true patriot.
