Flight 77 FDR Data created before black boxes were recovered

 This is one strange forum.

Say, Ron, who you got lined up for hardfire next?

P-doh is one strange dude.

I've got David Ray Griffin and Richard Gage lined up to debate Mark Roberts and Ryan Mackey. Griffin and Gage were shot with tranquilizer darts, their legs shackled to iron balls, and are being held in a dungeon below the 'Hardfire' studios.

How do you know the file date hasn't been changed? Why does this automatically mean a cover up by the USG and not a hoax by a "truther".

Because the file was burned onto a CD, and he's reading the modification date directly from the CD. Obviously, it wouldn't be much of a challenge to forge something like that - change your clock, "touch" the file without altering its contents, burn it to a CD -- voila.

A third-party examination of the CD could either disprove his claim, or support its authenticity (e.g., by checking if the CD itself was burned at a speed that burners circa-2001 were capable of burning at, or checking if the blank CD was designed specifically for FOIA use), but ultimately this finding should be treated as an eye-witness account.

That being said, the next logical question is whether Aidan Monaghan is a credible eye-witness. I see no reason to doubt his claim - we're talking about the man responsible for most of the FOIA requests disclosed publicly by the truth movement. He's always been honest and forthright with his FOIA-related disclosures, and I don't see why this would be any different.

Oh, and may I remind you all that the implications of his claim have nothing to do with his credibility.

Better go get the Pulitzer Prize with this one truthers! Hurry, you have a smoking gun of massive something! What exactly does this mean again? A CD date? Can't be forged? This is real funny stuff if it was not for the fact some of these truthers thinks it means something, but fail to say what it means. Better take it to Robert Upshur Woodward and Carl Bernstein; quick!

In fact, Windows XP wasn't released until October 25, 2001... over a month after 9/11. That means this software was running on a Windows operating system without automatic time synchronization. Clock drift was still an issue.

The "Windows Time Service" first shipped with Windows 2000 ("w32time"), serving as a full-featured NTP client.

It's also worth noting that prior to Windows 2000, third-party applications were commonly used to synchronize the time, as they were freely available and open source.

That is very fair of you Ron. Tranquilising the truthers to make them as dopey as the debunkers. Always a level playing field on hardfire.

The name is D'oh P. It looks as if y'all play'en wid a sock! The hate for PM's from Gravey is a tell, taller than a'redwood!

ETA: What's that wierd orange thumb down icon?

A number of plausible explanations for this discrepancy have been put forward so far. I'm rather interested in your explanation for the discrepancy, theauthor. What do you think this difference is due to?

I think theauthor is suggesting that the date discrepancy implies that the flight recorder data was compiled independently of the physical recovery. I.E., that it was forged, and the forgers forgot to remove this clue.

I like that dungeon. I often eat lunch there. The screams and moans seem to give me an appetite.

By itself, this discrepancy doesn't prove anything; however, when you consider it along with all the other evidence, it's just one more reason to doubt the US Government's story.

You guys like to take problems like this, say, "it doesn't definitively prove anything on its own, because there are other possible explanations for it -- debunked", and then completely disregard it from that point forward. In other words, you fail to examine the entire body of evidence.

Take, for instance, a murder trial. The prosecution has multiple eye-witnesses, as well as physical evidence to support their case. You can look at the eye-witnesses and say, "there's a possibility that they're lying". You can look at the physical evidence and say, "there's a possibility that the police are framing the defendant". When you consider everything together, there just isn't much of a chance that both of those scenarios are true.

So, yes, you guys are correct - when you isolate this latest problem, it doesn't definitively prove anything. Add it to the list of other problems, and it's just another reason why a new investigation is absolutely necessary. If you don't think so, I suggest you ask yourself why you're so opposed to a new investigation if you're so sure about what happened.

i have no problem with truthers funding an investigation, frankly id like to know why they are still talking about it rather than doing something

Maybe the twoofers can explain to us why they choose to sit around and whine about a new investigation instead of actually starting one.

Okay, we're bored. Time to send you on your way:

Who should conduct your new investigation, given that you must exclude all real physicists, structural engineers, metallurgists, demolition experts, fire safety specialists, seismologists, avionics techs, pilots, forensic examiners, police and fire personnel, etc.?

Beep-beep. Z-O-O-O-M!

So once again we have a thread where a truther tenaciously clutches at a piece of absolute nothing like it was a diamond because, in the end, that's all they even have. A few pieces of nothing.

God damn, what a lousy way to go through life.

The US Government won't release all of the evidence - without that, there's only so much that can be done.
