Audiophilia - From skeptic to believer

Yes, if skeptics don't like something, they just take out their knife and start cutting through it. Problem solved!

Skeptics 100 years ago blew up cars because they didn't believe in them. They just kept riding their bicycle and ignored all the woo-woo cars going past them on the road. Skeptics like to live in their little delusional dream world where everything makes sense to them. If they find something they don't know, they explain it as placebo, that way they know everything about everything and their ego keeps growing bigger and bigger. Now who is the one full of it, the skeptic or the believer?
You just like to make up BS don't you, you bring nothing to the table.

ES - you cannot make us wrong by replacing the word 'skeptic' with 'believer' and 'believer' with 'skeptic'.

Seek medical attention.

At least I don't remove anything from the table like the skeptics do. If a skeptic is walking in the forest and finds evidence of a new species, he just buries it and forgets about it.

Just more BS about the word, you should look up the English meaning of the word, if you have such a word in your Language, it seems not the mean the same thing in English.

LOL, anyone who uses the word "skeptic" as in insult might want to loook at his own chosen SCREEN NAME, don't you think?

Calling yourself "EXTREME SKEPTIC" and then attacking people for being skeptics... anyone else feel the love?

I'm feeling the mental health issues.

Serious question, ExtremeSkeptic: You've stated on another thread that you do not regard yourself as human.

If that's the case, then to what use would you expect us humans to put your opinions about audio? I have no doubt that aliens could have alien senses, alien tastes, and alien opinions, not just about audio but about many things from nutrition to morality.

I would pay attention to aliens' opinions about such things due to my curiosity about the nature of the aliens. The purpose of such inquiry, though, would have nothing to do with any desire to change my own diet, behavior, or musical tastes to agree with the alien's, any more than humans study whales in order to learn to sing whale songs, eat krill, and fatally strand themselves on beaches.

Let's try a single representative example. You say you get benefits from using certain brands of power cord. But you also say you're not human. What evidence do you have that humans would get benefits from using those power cords?

Respectfully,
Myriad

:boggled: Yikes. Where was that? This may go beyond a case of obsessive tinkering...

Quoted with links, so you can check context. By themselves these might sound like irony, metaphor, or humor. I hope that is indeed the case anyhow. But the quotes in original context suggest otherwise.

For anyone who didn't realize, it is possible to mate the king with more than 1 move. All you need is deeper understanding. You can't just look at the surface of something and know the truth, you need to go deep inside. You need to enter the audiophile hobby and try things for yourself, you aren't going to understand it otherwise.
Instead of sitting in a spaceship around Eart's orbit to study the humans I have entered a human vessel instead. Just by looking at the humans they make no sense, you need to temporarily become one yourself to truly understand them. I have been at both sides of the fence and it makes sense to me now. Now I'm just waiting until my alien buddies come back to beam me up.

I don't have a brain. I'm as much human as you are the car you drive.

The best disguise is the one where you can tell the truth about your mission and nobody will believe you.

If I was a superior being I wouldn't be posting in this thread. I wouldn't even be in this Universe. But instead my alien buddies put me here as punishment and I can't get out until my mission is completed. They haven't told me my mission yet so I am forced to wait for the voices. Why else do I tweak my audio system? So I can practice hearing the voices better. When I listen to music I can't hear the voices properly, but tweaking the system has improved it, so I have kept tweaking to get more clarity.

Humans are not the correct species for me. If you are attracted to the intestines then there is a problem with you. If you are attracted to the outer shell but not the intestines, then you have an even bigger problem.

(The last quote was in regard to speculation about his sexual preferences -- and he's clearly not referring to bestiality, though it might sound that way without the context of the previous quotes.)

Myriad

One musical example. One of my favorite jazz trios is Keith Jarrett, Jack DeJohnette, Gary Peacock. When they play, they often don't emphasize 'one' of the beat very much. DeJohnette never hits a big crash cymbal on 'one', and Peacock walks in a way that moves over the bar line. Jarrett plays a lot on one and three, but in a subtle way that can be deceptive.

I'll have to go home, read your post and listen to the album I have with that trio. Can't remember the title ATM, but I enjoy it very much. Will get back to you!

I'm trying to figure out how to make my entire guitar rig MIDI-controlled without having to spend too much money. Anyone want to suggest some cables?:)

What evidence do you have that humans would get benefits from using those power cords?
There are no benefits from aftermarket power cords, they all reduce the performance of the system. They all make a difference, but to the worse. I have spent $$$$$ on Valhalla power cords and they make the power supply work less efficiently than stock cables. Valhalla is very far from neutral.

Valhalla sounds kind of hollow like the capacitor is weaker. I like that sound. That's why I spent the money on it.

You just love to lie don't you.

Is it because you have tried it or because you have made yourself believe there isn't a big difference because you don't want to spend the time in upconverting the videos?
Video Enhancer sucks. If the computer crashes while it's upconverting the video you need to start over. It takes a few weeks upconverting a video and then it doesn't look like real life anyway. It takes too much electricity also. I overclocked one of my computers for extra boost and then it broke after a couple days. I don't see the point of upconverting if I only watch the movie once anyway.

I remember 5 years ago I was watching 19 MB quality movies on the computer with cordless headphones that were picking up radio. I couldn't see what they were doing on the screen but I could hear their voices and my brain filled in the rest. My brain was automatically ignoring the radio channel in the background. I didn't like to spend the money on better gear because it worked fine. But then I entered the audio hobby and found how much better it could sound, so I continued. I don't see the problem with that.

I'm pretty sure the Voodoo Lab thingy is more than enough, don't you?

It is...Ive set up tons of them, back when they were under a company called DMC. Its really a good deal, and more than I would really ever need. Back when I actually played I had racks and racks full of gear so "I could be totally versatile" and yet I always just ended up using one sound...

It was like using a modern Core2Duo dualcore to play space invaders.

Power cords for Cary transport

You are saying aftermarket power cords magically "improve" the sound? I thought you were a skeptic.

My whole life I have used the cheapest cables I could find, I have them all inside a box under my bed. I took out a stock cable and wrapped it in ERS Paper.

First impressions ERS for stock: Heavier bass. Some edginess transformed into transients. More low-level detail. But everything was little dull and boring. Some of the low-level detail was covered up in mud.
I think I liked the edgy sound of nude cable more even when it was fatiguing.

Then I changed back to Valhalla...

180cm 18awg stock

vs

210cm 16awg Valhalla

Nordost Valhalla: Heavier bass than stock. Little less low-level detail than stock. The low-level detail is covered up in snow instead of mud. It makes it sound smoother and more open. Everything sounds cleaner and more like real life! The lack of low-level detail makes the soundstage appear bigger with more separation of the sounds. Everything seems to be more distinct compared to stock. The transients sound more hairy because the whiteness is covered up. Stock cable was edgy and maybe little harsh.

This is obvious now that Valhalla is similar to vacuum tubes. It makes it sound like real life! I get lost inside the music and can listen for hours. With stock cable that doesn't happen.
It sounds like Valhalla puts a layer of snow under the music. It covers up all the mud on the bottom. Valhalla is very clean.
