Proof of God

No you believe the lie, and you have to lie about how everything in the world works to make you so-called bible and so-called god work. Lie about the age of the earth, lie about the age of the universe, lie about how weather works, lie about diseases work, and lie about how earthquakes work, you list is almost endless for all the lies you need to make it work for you. Lie, lie and then lie some more when science shows the true nature of things. You just don't want to be of this planet, it kills you to think that you're only an animal, and that you have no soul. That this is no afterlife, no big daddy in the sky, and Jesus if he existed was only a man and the whole story about him is a lie. That he was only one of many messiahs of his time and his so-called follower waited for his return in their lifetime, not yours, to return. You life a lie, and if that is how you want to live, that is fine for you, has for me I want the truth and don’t need the lies to make my day and make me so-called important.

I feel sorry for your need for lies.

But Paul, don't you understand? Those lies are ok because they're told with the highest of all possible intentions; to convert us to love Jeebus. Any lie, any false-hood, any untruth told for that reason is ok. Remember, Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven.

God isn't hiding gang but you must believe He is before you will find the truth that can set you free and save your eternal soul!
Do you believe in fairies? Say quick that you believe. If you believe, clap your hands!

Let's not be partisian, Paul. They're all rotten.
Yes, that may be true, but some are way way more rotten than others.

Show me a law that is GOOD for the little man from the republicans.

Well I haven't had time to read or respond on this thread but I think Dustin has given many of you intellects something to consider. Good job Dustin!

What the deuce? No he hasn't!

His argument is essentially thus: Assume god exists...therefore, god exists.

I had to think about that for a picosecond before I saw it was nonsense...he begs the question, that it he assumes the very thing he is trying to prove.

I'm beginning to conclude believers don't understand logic. In their eyes logic is equivalent to a belief. Except there is no bible to support it hence it is inferior;)

Dustin is not alone.
And some around here claim to be able to prove god does not exist.

'Proof of God' # 12859-A

There seems a distinct sense that we shot some arrows into a blank wall and then drew a target around the arrows, proving that our arrow shooting strategy 'works' at hitting the target perfectly.

Claiming a deity does not exist is not really any different than claiming unicorns don't exist. We chose to describe social values in terms that center around the language of deity. Our 'value arrows' hit a Deity shaped target but not a Unicorn shaped target only because we drew the target that way.

True or not, 'God' is an assertion that comes with a demand for self-sacrifice and devotion.

I need not enumerate them, but I'd say that the blood of centuries of martyrs and believers demands that they died for something more than a useful lie.

So, if you claim that god does not exist, you must provide evidence, don;t you agree?

No. You cannot prove a negative. If you're making a positive claim, then you must provide the evidence. If I were claiming that the Flying Spaghetti Monster really existed, then I'd have to provide evidence for that. So far all that we've been given as evidence for the existance of a deity has been verbal masturbation. I'm sorry if that offends, but if you want to believe something that there is little to no evidence for, then that's up to you. Just leave it out of my life, thanyouverymuch.

No, I don't have to prove that Peter Pan and Tinker Bell exist to prove that they don't exist.

No. You cannot prove a negative.

You said that "you cannot prove a negative". This means that you cannot provide evidence for a negative claim. One such negative claim is that god does not exist. Therefore you cannot provide evidence for the claim that god does not exist. Therefore you cannot prove that god does not exist. That seems to follow logically. So why did you say "no" in answer to my question and then show why the answer is "yes"?

Where did I say that I want to believe in something for which there is no evidence?
But do you want to believe there is no god - something for which there is also no evidence

No. You cannot prove a negative.

Not quite true as far as burden of proof goes. The burden of proof is on the person making a claim that is contrary to proven fact OR is a positive assertion making claim to something that isn't factual. For example, if a person claims their god exists, it's always their burden to prove it unless they finally do prove it as fact. However, if a person claims that evolution doesn't happen, then it's their burden to prove evolution doesn't happen because it's already established scientific fact that it does. Also, proving a negative can happen and be a reasonable request given circumstances. (I can prove that I'm not 6'2") However, proving an unfalsifiable claim negative is impossible.
