Well Christ did call Peter "the Rock" that he would build his Church on:
"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Mathew 16:18)
If the altar of St. Peter's Basilica (maybe the biggest Church in the world) is built directly above the grave of Peter that would be quite a prediction ol' Christ made.
Yup, in fact that's the reason various Orthodox and Protestant scholars have disagreed with this interpretation. It seems that they felt the Catholics might have been telling fibs for Jesus.
And your point is?
Do ya think, just maybe, that the early Christians built the church there BECAUSE OF THE PREDICTION!

I'd rather talk about Peter Griffin.
You are trying to guess what god wants now? Someone confessed unworthy?Well maybe God wants you all to have something to think about.
It was the woman he denied Christ to. She made a man out of him because he was so weak. What exactly did turn Peter around from a scared ****less wimp into "the man".
The wheel fell off his donkey at speed. Since it was doing nearly 30mph outside Ephesia at the time, Paul came down VERY hard on his ass.I guess you also have to wonder what turned Paul around also.
Is this the same encyclopedia that regards the transformation of wafers and wine into the flesh and blood of a fictional character as a fact?
Yeah, that's an objective and trustworthy authority.
I believe Bush Sr., Bush Jr., Clinton, and Carter all considered John Paul II a trustworthy authority. Why else would they travel 6000 miles for his funeral.
Do you have a source for this. I have to believe the father of Protestantism Martin Luther would not say anything like this about "Peter being in Rome".

And why does Fox and CNN have almost constant coverage of events like the pope's funeral and the election of a new pope that goes on for days.

Well, let's see. They all decided to travel together to go to Rome and hear the authoritative Pope's advice. But blow me down with a plate of soup - the old bugger had upped and died not a week before! Well, what could you say about that, sports fans?! That wasn't the slightest bit trustworthy of Il Papa, was it!I believe Bush Sr., Bush Jr., Clinton, and Carter all considered John Paul II a trustworthy authority. To pay Ted Turner's electricity bills. And why does Fox and CNN have almost constant coverage of events like the pope's funeral and the election of a new pope that goes on for days.

I was trying to figure this out as well. Why do some people just not seem to grasp what a non sequitor is? What the hell does any of this rambling have to do with whether the Catholic Encyclopedia is an objective and trustworthy authority or not?
