• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

PS Audio Noise Harvester

What was wrong with the video anyway?

You need to ask?

It's just some dude farting around with his overpriced toys, going on about how he was right, the plug was loose. Why on earth should ANYONE waste a nanosecond of their time watching it? I'm sorry to say I watched it, and got what I expected, which was bunko.

A better question is, what ISN'T wrong with it.

Believe it or not, silver solders were not originally developed for their improved electrical characteristics. Silver was added to tin/lead solders because nonsilver-bearing solders had a tendency to wick away the silver on silver-plated copper wires during the soldering process. Metallurgists found that if they added a few percent of silver to the solder, they could prevent this wicking affect.
Thanks for the link. My Valhalla cables are silver-plated copper...

In the video I said that it sounded like the plug was loose, and it was.

It's from RFI entering the metal pins of the connector. I hear the same sound signature if something in my system doesn't have ERS Paper. Edgy, muddy, thin, lack of bass.

There is always something wrong with something if it doesn't suit your own beliefs.

Conductivity of copper as compared to silver is pretty close, so close in fact that I doubt very much you'll notice any difference.

Cu: 1.678E-8 Ohm-meters (0.00000001678)
Ag: 1.59E-8 Ohm-meters (0.0000000159)

If you can tell the difference between silver-coated copper wire and bog standard copper wire w.r.t. audio performance, you may as well apply for Randi's $1M.

The difference between 60 microns and 78 microns silver plating is huge. The last time I tried a copper cable it sounded horribly muddy with all details gone.

I made a multiple choice upsampling blind test a year ago and scored 99.99%. Having 6 choices to choose from wasn't a good enough challenge. It's just fatiguing. I need something harder.

The test needs to be broadcast live on Internet, because I don't want bullet in my head when I prove the truth and his only choice is to eliminate the truth because he doesn't like it.
The test needs to be made over a year period of time. I will prove that all my tweaks are true. I don't care about the $1M prize at all. I just want all my travel expenses paid.

I'd wondered why no-one had ever claimed the prize. This looks like the only reasonable explanation.

OH NOES!!1111!!!1 ANOTHER Twoofer! You're in the wrong forum, mate. Head on over to the Conspiracy Theory subforum, you'll fit right in.

It's not like you have anything to contribute to Science, Mathematics, Medicine or Technology anyway.

I'm just accepting all possibilities instead of ignore them. Skeptics cherry pick and ignore the rest, that's why they get angry when they see a possibility they didn't know existed.

You: dabbler
Me: expert

The only things I ignore are the ones I know are impossible.

As an electronics design engineer of some, oh, 18 years now, I'm pretty secure in my knowledge of what can and cannot be done with audio, besides other things. I've used (and designed) instruments far more sensitive and reliable than those pointy things on the side of your head.

You know, I think it's impossible for you to be this obtuse and still exist. So I think I'll just ignore you. See? No cherry-picking, just eliminating the impossibilities.

Just for the sheer entertainment value this thread should continue for at least another week.

Do you super cool the mains input? I hear that helps improve the quality, as do quantum purifiers that can be installed where an inferior piece of wire might be used.

OMG, what have you done?? Liquid nitrogen can be dangerous!!

Oh, wait... :p

I've just sent a link to this thread to my bro, who's a chartered electronical engineer and has spent most of the last twenty years squeezing unfeasibly large numbers of transistors onto tiny pieces of silicon and has a particular interest in noise reduction circuitry. He called me back but all I could hear down the line were incoherent gurgling noises. I think he's amused.

I have heard a difference between 320kbps mp3 and WAV, the difference is almost as small as cleaning speaker cable with Optrix to remove static electricity.
Half of my albums are 192 kbps mp3.

Let me see if I have this right. You listen to MP3s on headphones and consider yourself an audiophile?

:seroflmao:

I have to admit that I haven't had the patience to read through the whole thread, but has anyone considered that ES might be yanking everyone's chain? His stuff reads a lot like parody to me...

Yes, actually. I had the same thought.
