"Evolution isn't science"

But you have noticed that people are geting taller and living longer (and don't start the whole noah lived for 600 years stuff - that ain't science
Taller than when a few hundred years ago? I'll give you that...A few thousand years ago? you are wrong.
Again are we living longer than humans did a few hundred years ago?...I'm sure...but are we living longer than we were before disease or before the ozone was depleted or before man ate only vegatation...not acording to the bible...oh wait thats not true.
oh and by the way Noah lived for 950 years!

Is it an evolutionary miracle that that give or take a few percentage points humans reproduce at a 50% male to female ratio. How does evolution know to do something like this? Let me guess over a long period of time it figured it out for its self?

Um. It's simple probability.

Sex in humans is determined by the X and Y chromosomes. XX = female, XY = male. The male sperm is formed from a splitting of a whole set of chromosomes into a set of half with each half containing an X and Y.

Half the male sperm are X. Half are Y.

The chance therefore of an offspring being male or female is 50%.

What is so mysterious?

Oh I see thats the miracle...How does that work?

That's... a miracle?

Male cells have XY chromosome pairs. Pairs are split into two - two sperm from each whole. One has X. One has Y.

I fail to see the miracle.

That explains my feathers, I was wondering what that was all about.

Note that the mechanism driving evolution is environmental pressure (also called natural selection). Because of our use of tools and ability to carry out environment with us (air conditioning, heating, air filtering), we've actually reduced the effects of environmental pressure a little. Also, some think that it is environmental separation that allows speciation to occur. With our global ability to travel and intermingle, we've reduced that effect as well.

Social pressures may be driving our evolution more than environmental pressures.

And be glad you got feathers. Imagine those of us suffering with scales.... ;)

That must have taken a long time...good thing we got billions of years to fall back on

Why don't you explain tous all how humans are still evolving?

The same as everything else. It does not involve people randomly producing feathers. All it requires is that our genetics is changing. It is.

A long time to do what?
Evolve into animals that require both sexes to reproduce...begging the question had did the first human reproduce...oh oh wait I know by the time we evolved into humans we were already male and female

OK my position is that the Bible is litteral and true, and that evolution should not be taught in public schools as fact and backed up with lies. I am willing to discuss this with anyone who has intelligent questions and I do not call people names and expect the same out of others, that gets us no where. I think it is possible to discuss without arguing and realize that I will probably change no minds but just like to have both sides represented fairly. Thanks.

When so many people discuss so many subjects, it's easy to drive the subject off track. Despite your attempt to precisely define your position above, it is still quite ambiguous to me, and I find it nearly impossible to argue a question until I know exactly what that question is. So...

You state that the Bible is "litteral" (sp) and "true."

1. Is the Bible historically accurate (Y/N)?

2. Is the Bible God's law (Y/N)?

3. Is the Bible inerrant (Y/N)?

JF, by the time homo sapiens had evolved there were a plethora of sexually reproducing species.

I can't quite fathom why you think that the wheel needs to be reinvented for each species.

*sigh* Could you -please-, for one minute, actually attempt to discuss what evolution actually is instead of throwing straw man comments like that around?

And would it hurt you too much to admit that you misquoted Darwin, and that the full context of the quote says something entirely different than you thought it did? How about you actually read his book instead of just relying on known liars to provide you with exerpts taken out of context?

And frankly, it's really despairing to see that such a lie, exposed several -decades- back, is still around in circulation. One would have imagined that the persons who -apparently- believes in not telling falsehoods because all-powerful fellow in the invisible sky wrote down such a rule on stone table would actually -follow- that rule. But yet, they just keep on repeating the same lie over and over and over....

Why do creationists keep lying about that selective quote, JF? Why do they still present it as "evidence", when anyone who's ever studied evolution knows it for the lie it is? Why on earth did you even imagine that we hadn't seen that one before?

In short: Why lie, when people know you are lying? Ask your fellow creationists that from me, will you?
