I would not find them as interesting, but I would not object to their presense. But either would really require NSFW tags.

And I think general pictures of women in chocolate would be much easier than pictures of Pitt and Depp together in chocolate.

While it is true that the US is somewhat more "violent," that alone does not explain why the prison population is so high. I think you will find that a large part of the reason is that crime is punished harder there. Even insignificant crimes carry sentences that may seem unreasonable to us foreigners who are used to having even murderers back on the streets after only 5-10 years.

European (and certainly Scandinavian) courts (a big generalization, I know) on the other hand, tend to be a lot more lenient. Infact, certain crimes that are punishable by life imprisonment or the death penalty in the United States will only get you 2-3 years in Scandinavia.

Now I'm not looking for three-strike laws for petty theft or anything similiarily absurd, but it certainly wouldn't hurt if we raised the minimum sentences for serious crimes to a similar level as the Americans. I mean, at present even the life sentence (which is almost never used) is legally defined as "a maximum of 21 years*" here in Norway, with parole common after serving only half or two-thirds of the sentence.


(*The law does allow for an open-ended sentence for criminals that pose an extreme danger to society. It is technically not a life sentence as it is reviewed at regular intervals to determine if the risk is still present or if the person can safely be re-integrated into society or mental care.)

Swedes are the small ones, turnips the big ones. Turnips are also called "neeps" in Scotland, but Neep-head (or neep-heid, as it would be) isn't quite the same.

It's actually a very mild rebuke. Much along the lines of "Ya puddin'" or "gowk".
