Roberts to Debate Bermas on 'Hardfire'

"Lets get this outta the way"

Yeah. Its pretty much the biggest obstacle for 9/11 twoof woof.

no, the video will be of him and bermas riding the subway on the way to the taping
Oh that would be FABULOUS! Gosh. They'll be on a subway train...

Oh no. A train?!? LIKE THE TRAIN THE FIREMEN HEARD THAT KNOCKED DOWN THE WTCs?!?

Evacuate, Aiv and Berm! Get out! Get off the train! The call is coming from inside the train!!!

I doubt they got rights to edit the footage. I am sure Ron will be watching like a hawk to see their footage. If it is edited in anyway, and it is "Hardfires" footage, they could hall Avery/Bermas/Rowes asses into court.

yeah...want details! did they do their ever famous avoid the argument tactics?

I don't think Dylan will ever want anyone to watch the actual show. At most, he might talk about the debate being unfair. This will go down as a huge embarrassment for Dylan and may contribute to his descent into 'Eric Hufschmid' levels of CT irrelevance.

It will be predicatable
they will claim they "won" the argument and put Mark (Gravy) in his place
or claim that they won because they weren't given enough time to argue their position
or claim that they won because Mark didn't address their arguments at all
or simply ignore everything and claim they won...

They may claim that, but it will be without linking to the actual show. Even a blind LC devotee won't be able to stay loyal after watching the massacre. Ron is always fair and thorough. Gravy is fact-based.

This is the start of Dylan's downfall. CT hosts will start to avoid him. College-age kids that passed out hundreds of his DVDs will pretend that they never heard of him. By next year, he will be the equivalent of Linda Thompson and Eric Hufschmid.

I am very much looking forward to seeing and hearing Mark take the twoofers to task, as I am sure he will have done.
Roily?

The UA 93 thread has been moved btw, but you might want to pop in and have a look, it's down in movies. Now I also sent you a GEEmail, which maybe you'll want to have a look at too.

cheerio (ps they don't seem to be missing you in books)

Hey all. Thanks for the good wishes. I'm back from the taping. I enjoyed it, but it went SO fast. There just isn't time in that format to get into any detail.

There was one huge, huge, huge surprise. Don't click below if you don't want to know about it before the shows air!

Ha! Just kidding. There were no surprises at all, but I don't want to give any details before the shows air.

So, it was me and Ron and Avery and Bermas. Rowe was behind the scenes with his own video cameras. Everyone was polite, no chairs got thrown, and we all got points across coherently. Avery didn't say a lot. Bermas did most of the talking. Ron got Avery to divulge something very telling near the end of the second show. I really appreciate Ron's soothing style. I can't imagine doing a show like that with a host that's aggressive.

Thematically, though, it was a bit of a train wreck. While we all had points that we absolutely wanted to make, we bounced from subject to subject, with no set-up. I think it will be confusing to viewers who aren't very familiar with the subject matter. It would have been better to have specific talking points that we all agreed on in advance. That's hindsight, though. I thought that the plan I had in my head would be sufficient. That's only the 633,080,317,228,572nd time I've been wrong about that.

But, Ron brought up the idea of doing more shows with the LTW crew. I'm all for it if it's more organized. With almost every sentence that Bermas and Avery uttered, I said to myself, "I can do a half-hour on that, easily." And then the subject would melt away like a snowflake. So frustrating. SO frustrating. It's like playing a sport and giving 100% effort, but only participating in 1% of the game. Not even 1%. It's like homeopathic debating. No doubt that the frustration is felt on both sides, though.

Definitely not the ideal format for me, but I've reluctantly come to the conclusion that video may have to be fought with video.

The word is that the shows will be up on GoogleVideo soon, as in a few days from now, well before they air on local TV here. It will be fun to watch. I have no idea how I came across. None.

The bad news that I didn't get a JREF plug in! Aaargh! I had a title card that showed internet links, JREF foremost, that I was hoping would be filmed to be introduced as a still, but forgot to mention it. I did get some other photos filmed.

I'm conflicted about participating in such shows. In June I had asked the LTW guys to sit down with me for a day so that we could go over all this stuff in a non-adversarial way. That's still my preference. But they don't want to hear it. As I said yesterday, it only takes a second to throw the...grape jelly against the wall, but it takes a long time to clean it up, much longer than TV formats allow.

I think that Avery and Bermas deserve credit for appearing. While they have done hundreds of interviews and are quite media-savvy, I am an 800-lb. gorilla (or at least a 125 lb. chimpanzee) to them, and they didn't have to wrassle with me at all.

Then again, they are media hounds.

Did I mention how frustrating that was?

Even more frustrating than that, the beer in my fridge isn't cold yet.

Then again, they are media hounds.

And rightly so. They are trying to distribute a film and get a message to people.

If you want to deny them a media platform, why offer to debate for an hours tv show?

I'm sure you did twice the job anybody on these forums could have done, and ten times the job I could have done, but everything you said makes me not want to ever watch this.

I'm afraid I'm going to be watching a smart person in a stupid medium, seeing the painful difference between your superhuman ability to post 2,000 words off the top of your heads and link to half a million more that perfectly debunk some idiotic theory, versus the Bill O'Reilly abilty to spout 15-second soundbites that a lay person can understand from their sofa.

This is why the conspiracy theory will never, ever completely go away. I have a sneaking suspicion that these episodes will be linked by both sides with smirking declarations of victory. One side because they know Gravy has a mountain of unspoken data backing up what he says, the other side because the mountian of data went unspoken and thus must not exist.

In the world of TV, in 2006, it might have been more satisfying to let them go on the O'Reilly Factor and let him just scream insults at them for an hour.

And rightly so. They are trying to distribute a film and get a message to people.

I agree, everyone needs to see liars do their thing; lie
