gay games: utter failure

You're right! Fine, it will be a tax only on "strap-on's" then.

In regards to my homophobia, the gay's started it when they, as a group, collectively, conspired to scam the local economy of Montreal!

They must be taught a lesson.

Anyway, you call DeKalb "Illinois' anus" even though DeKalb is where barbed wire was invented?;) OUCH!

Haha, ouch indeed.

Yes, "barbed wire" and then a 100 years of nothing...

My hometown is better; we invented HAL.

... hmm, and the web browser.

Sounds like it's too late, and you're already going to pay.

Yeah, damned democratic society... ;)

My question about why the gay parade bothers you still stands though.

Well, it doesn't bother me much, I just ignore it, but what bothers me is the idea. They do think of themselves as an "entity". If they act like they are, and say that they are (which these ridiculous games are trying to prove) then they should put their money where their mouth is.

No, "they" don't. "Some" may, but "they" don't. Don't you think your reasoning might be a little sloppy?

In your above comment you use the word "They" five times. Had you used the word "They" even just once, you contradict yourself. It seems to me that by using the "They," even once, let alone five times, you are referring to an "entity," an "entity," by the way, from which you want to distance your sensibilities.

So why gay games?

Um, what?

...Because some collective of investors, promoters, athletes, and government officials saw some ammount of financial and cultural benefit in putting on such an event... is that the sort of answer your looking for?

Now why do you keep insisting that the "gay community" is some sort of monolithic entity with one collective brain? (out to steal your tax dollars)

Here's what's confusing about your wording. A gay parade or the gay games are sponsered and promoted by organizations -- entities of a sort. Considering the context, the officers and members of those organizations might be almost all gay or bi. But that doesn't translate into "the gays." There are far more homosexuals out there than there are people directly involved in these efforts.

Lawn-When I lived in Chicago there would sometimes be a story on the local evening news regarding a Nazi march in Skokie, a Jewish political candidate, or an Israeli issue, etc., and the newscaster would say, "Rabbi Goldstein who represents the area Jewish community said today..."

I was like, um, who is HE? And no one asked me MY opinion!

Should be worded, "Rabbi Goldstein, who represents that he represents the area Jewish community ..."

Yeah but these events try to portray them as an entity, otherwise there wouldn't be such events. That's what bothers me, that's why I use "they".

Next year, I want Bald Olympics.

Outgames. How do you know the athletes are all gay? What if the US team brought in a hetero ringer? How would you know?

And then there are the openly bi-athletes...

Remember the gay nerd in "Revenge of the Nerds" documentary? He was able to throw that javelin farthest because his limp wrist had a uniquely strong snapping action. So therefore, according to the evidence in this documentary, gays have certain athletic advantages heteros lack.
