What's really bizarre are maga weirdoes and magaratz making stupid comments about "muslims" before all the facts come in which is typical of them because they don't care about or understand facts.

It's almost like racist are running our government.

That will be my last comment about this because I don't want to sidetrack this thread.

The Celts displaced the Beaker People, the Romans displaced the Celts, the Anglo-Saxons displaced the Romans, the Normans displaced the Anglo-Saxons. The UK is at least four generations past any culture that could have been called "indigenous".

Normans did not displace the Anglo Saxons, they just displaced the Anglo Saxon Ruling class.

For one, because laws change in response to what people want. For another, because people DON’T obey the laws if the laws don’t conform to their values. And lastly, because merely obeying the laws isn’t the only thing that matters to a well functioning society.

So, there were never Irish criminals? No Irish rapists?

Because that is the level of discourse here. If an Islamic person commits a crime it is not considered a personal thing, where the individual in question needs to be arrested, but rather a fault of the whole group.

The racists in this thread here claim I am in mortal peril from the Muslim teenagers I teach. The ones who behave the same as the rest of our teenagers (badly). That I should be terrified of the Muslim colleague trying to instill the concept of Math into those selfsame teenagers. That the cleaners who brought some of their cultural candy during a Muslim holiday are secretly conspiring to force me to convert at gunpoint. That my Muslim neighbour, married to an Israeli, who had to move here as their own countries refuse their love, is actually responsible for everything some radical spouts on the internet. That the bored girl scanning my groceries as a temp job during high school is actually part of a global all-Muslim terror cell, and that I should actually push to have them all expelled or at least put into segregated camps.

The dicussion has been derailed to arguments about Islam but let´s recap. My original argument, that gave rise to this thread, is that immigration causes problems and that the far right in Europe is rising thanks to having won the narrative discourse and placed themselves in a position where they appear to be the only parties with a strong position against immigration. I further posit that in order to fight against the far right, denying the negative effects of immigration is counterproductive. Because there is a kernel of truth in this discourse of the far right. So it´s like a pressure cooker, keep denying it and eventually the far right will win. Here in Spain the places where Vox (Spanish far right party) gets most support are the ones with high immigration (https://elpais.com/politica/2018/12/03/actualidad/1543829876_200181.html)
Why would that be?

Members with ideological blinders seem to have trouble to understand this. They´ve swallowed the propaganda that immigration is always a good thing and nothing bad can come out of it, so they can´t admit that the rise of the far right is helped by mainstream parties ignoring this issue. It´s one of these paradoxes caused by leftist dogmatism, they end up hurting their cause. Like trans kids being hurt by supposedly pro-trans activists´ disregard for evidence based medicine (Tavistock case), Backlash from DEI practices etc. It´s almost impossible to reach ideologically blind people. They can just use the wildcards of "racism" "transphobia" "islamophobia" etc. to avoid having to consider anything that goes against their ingrained prejudices. Insulated like religious extremists shielded behind their faith dogmas. If anyone criticises those dogmas it must be because they are doing the devil´s work...
