Trump's Second Term

This is very true. My brother is one of these people. He is completely indifferent to the feelings of others. As kids, he was cruel to our family pets (not sadistic mind you, just mean) and often tortured insects, frogs etc.

But as an adult, he hasn't become an "evil" person. He became a firefighter and he is often the only one on his crew who can handle the sight of dead, decomposing bodies etc. When confronted by horrific scenes of car accidents and such, he calmly maintains his composure and just does his work because he couldn't care less how others are feeling. In his line of work, his complete indifference to others suffering is an asset.

So I am sympathetic to the fact that someone with the incapacity for empathy is not necessarily evil. But I do often wonder...if he had been born with the intellect and drive to become a CEO, for instance, would he have become a truly awful person?
A lot of people demonstrate psychopathic traits, which doesn't mean they turn into murderers, it does seem to make them well suited to certain professions.

Just what is needed at the moment, less fuel efficient cars.

@realDonaldTrump

BIG DAY FOR AMERICAN AUTO WORKERS AND CAR BUYERS!
I have just approved new Fuel Economy Standards that TERMINATE Sleepy Joe Biden and Pete Boot-EDGE-EDGE's ridiculous EV Mandate.
The Dumocrats cost our Great Auto Manufacturers $Billions, forced Americans into cars they never wanted, and wasted Billions on Chargers that were never built.
These new Standards will take the waste out of building cars in America. That means LOWER PRICES, saving families thousands on a new, beautiful, and safe car — Far better than the Environmental Monsters that we were building heretofore.
Every Manufacturer, from General Motors to Ford to Stellantis, has called me wanting to build here, and now they can!
Under my Administration, over 100 $Billion is being invested in American Autos, and that's just the beginning.
The Plants are coming back, and Jobs are returning, to Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, South Carolina, and all over our Country.
Thank you to our Great Secretaries of Transportation and Commerce, Sean Duffy and Howard Lutnick.
AMERICA IS BACK. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

That Trump would put this up in the WH says far more about him than Obama. It shows just what an insecure, petty, childish, demented, hateful POS he really is. Thankfully, as soon as he's out of office, this will come down and be consigned to the garbage where it belongs.

I suppose it depends a little on how you define evil. It's possible to redefine just about anything evil in psychological terms and dispense with the moral. Where is the line? How could a Hitler or a Stalin or a Pol Pot be anything but pathological? If you're an ordinary person who knows the difference between right and wrong, the line between evil and crazy is at least a little blurry.
It helps if you were raised in privilege and to believe you're superior to all others. Makes it easier to dehumanize. He can't sympathize with others because he's always been insulated from any type of misfortune.

I think it's just another way of saying the same thing. People with no empathy don't see others as having feelings, of being able to hurt.

I dated a woman who once said "Other people can't make you feel bad. Only you can make you feel bad." In other words, other people's emotions aren't something you need to worry about, since by the same argument, you can't make them feel bad. In hindsight, I should have realized that was a warning sign.
