Definitely useful for some folk with some cardiac problems.

I had a couple of conversations with a devices cardiologist who was just a bit too gung ho for having me look at that option: it's not good for me and they could not get their head round my descriptions of how it would interfere with what life I have left. Carrot Flower Queen, who was present, was very impressed that I kept my obvious annoyance (well, CFQ is an expert in my signs of annoyance) well enough under control.

Useful for some, as I say.

I used to kill people for a living, and it shows when the BS gets too deep. Storm warnings are evidently easy spotted. The local "heart hospital" here in St. Loser expedited my return to a normal life when I realized I hadn't done anything for two days. They were milking my stay. Clarified the situation for them. Not gently.

I'm pretty sure they've killed more people than you have. And charged more for it!

eta: I was disinvited from the "share your perspectives on patient care" activity during the corporate spirit week thing. I wonder why?
To hear some guys tell it I killed anyone who came near the RTB movement before they knew I was out there. Too much beer I think.

Fun fact. Glamorous Glennis, the first aircraft to exceed the speed of sound deliberately was shaped after a .50 cal. bullet. Chuck Yeager's bullet was bigger than mine by a good bit. Supersonic bullets do make for surprised expressions on the opposing side. The round itself weighs between 4.2 oz and 4.8 oz IIRC. That's over a quarter of a pound going in excess of the speed of sound. The kinetic energy is oh ◊◊◊◊ me level.

Back seven months or so when I was in an acute hospital, there was a woman in my ward having one removed due to the problems it caused her.

Aye, they are not a panacea, but, per previous comments, useful sometimes.

I'm in AF, so I was not at all clear how an ICD was going to be of benefit to me and would not cause problems with spurious shocking.

My cardiologist (I feel weird every time I use that phrase, it just sounds wrong) has advised me, that one of those is likely in my future (because of my susceptibility to atrial fibrillation). However, I haven't noticed an event in more than two years, so I suspect that it's a long way into my future.

So far, the very low amount of daily beta-blocker (for heart rate limitation) has proven sufficient.

Note that there is a growing suspicion, that even very small amounts of quinine, for example present in 'tonic water' can be a trigger for AF. Accordingly, I no longer drink gin and tonic.

There also seems to be a more general association between consumption of sweetened beverages and various kinds of tachycardia.

:D

Totally read the title as "I see D-implants pending", and thought we were gonna have some amazing pics here. The disappointments on this forum, man...
