What would be the likelihood of success of 25th Amendment for Trump, rather than impeachment? The vibe seems to be that a LOT of Republicans would be pleased to see Trump irrevocably gone from government, their lives, their party, their country and mostly their TV sets. Even if it means a return to blandness and having to actually participate in government like sane people. Trump is shipping them many metric ◊◊◊◊-tons of evidence in the last few months alone to have him immediately committed to a high-walled asylum for criminally insane old goobers for the rest of his pathetic life. So perhaps that is the most achievable outcome. Thoughts?
I think impeachment is more likely. I'm optimistic there will be enough Republicans in the Senate who will defy him and vote for conviction. There were seven last time.

Problem with 25th Amendment is it needs to be activated by VP and some majority of his cabinet heads; and they're in a cushy spot right now. They don't have much of an incentive to boot him out of office. Vance would have the most to gain but I think he is too chicken ◊◊◊◊ to try.

Answer me this, sane Americans: what are you going to do when the results come in, and the blue tsunami is negated by clearly illegal tactics to repress/invalidate votes by Trump's regime?

Go to SCOTUS?

:dl:
That won't happen. Believe it or not the US not some Orwellian dystopia quite yet. It didn't work on Jan 6 and it won't work this time.

I'm all but certain Democrats will win the House and Senate, and then impeach and convict Trump. I know it's easy to think that he'll find a way around it somehow (especially among non-USAian), and that's understandable given the past. But he's too unpopular now and his 25% (and shrinking) base won't be able to save him. They might try to pull another January 6, but just like last time it will fail. He's toast.
They can impeach him again (and probably will), but convict? Not a chance the Democrats get the required 67 votes in the Senate. The real significance of winning either chamber is that it puts the brakes on any legislative priorities the Republicans have. In addition, if they win the Senate, they can prevent Trump from getting new judges confirmed unless they are broadly acceptable to both parties.

The big difference between Jan 6 and now is that Jan 6 was spontaneous. This time, state Republicans are deliberately suppressing the vote, and a huge ICE/National Guard presence might well stop a lot of votes.

Ty Cobb:

Trump is “sitting on $400 million in campaign money that he could donate to some of these elections and he’s not,” Cobb told MS NOW’s Ari Melber on Thursday.
...
“But it also plays into a narrative that I think people are undervaluing, which is I think Trump doesn’t feel he needs to spend this money because it is his intention to interfere with the elections and to steal these elections where possible,”

I wish I shared your optimism.
I know, I'm in kind of a minority here. But there's a clear path for Trump to become so toxic the moderate GOP will have to turn against him. I know, everyone thinks if they haven't done it by now, then they won't at all.

I don't think it's naivete; I've been around the block a few times. All it takes is 17 senators, so ten more Republicans than the last trial. That's not out of reach.

You would have to convince a handful of Billionaires.

My guess he's saving it for massive legal expenses post-presidency, both criminal and civil.

At what point do you think they'll decide his toxicity warrants action ?
What makes you think they'll have the guts to really do something against him, given all they've let slide so far ?
And unfortunately, there's plenty indications it will be too little, too late, should they miraculously find their courage, or even a smidgen of integrity …

I think it's also fair to say that if Trump is ousted, by impeachment or A25, then anyone who voted against him, especially Republicans, will be at genuine risk of violent reprisals from the most brainwashed members of his cult.

I would guess: the point where they realise their chances at the next election are worse with Trump. This includes their access to campaign funds.
