Odd how I've been on demos, been photographed and filmed by the Met and Special Branch, didn't get into anything resembling a violent confrontation with anyone, never got arrested or stopped by the police and worked for decades as a public servant with as much DBS and the like clearance as exists outside of working for MI5 and never, ever felt the need to wear a mask, balaclava, paramilitary uniform nor nowt.

I’m furious that Labour lied about last night’s Portsmouth migrant protest. I was there. It wasn’t 200 masked thugs: it was mainly local women, children and men peacefully trying to stop migrants arriving. Stop demonising concerned residents and tell the nation the truth.

To the journalists who turned up at my mother’s house today. To the journalist who went to the community I used to live in. To the media requesting interviews and there have been up to 50 in the last 72 hours.

I went through a period of being taken in for questioning by immigration every time I re-entered the UK. They never checked my luggage just wanted to know where i'd been, where I lived, what I did etc. The first couple of times I thought it was just random then I thought it was because I have a muslim name and brown skin, but it didn't happen to other similar people e.g. my sister travelling with me. I think the fourth time it happened I said why do I keep being questioned. The officer interviewing me just said he couldn't tell me. Then after a pause he said, 'You should get a new passport'. I did, and I was never questioned again. I assume someone had cloned my passport.

My initial response was that this was racist, but the interviewers were always polite and apologetic, and always asked the same type of questions. I now realise they were just doing their job, verifying that someone travelling on a passport on an alert list was who they claimed to be.
