General UK politics VIII - The Last Tory

Helen Whately MP
@Helen_Whately

Free cars for ADHD is not what our welfare system was designed for. Nor can we afford it.

@Conservatives will reform Motability so that it's there for the seriously disabled. And we'll invest the savings so that we reach 3% of GDP on Defence

That's okay because you don't get free cars for ADHD. My understanding is that one gets money to help one live independently.

I knew someone who got PIP for ADHD and it helped with her keeping down a job and being a taxpayer.

Protecting 'them'!
I've never seen such violence to women in a UK political conference in my 57 years. Despicable, especially the gammon with the crutch, oh and the security guard that stood on a protesters hair as they were dragging her up from the ground. Or... there's lots more.

Definite shades of Trump's "I'll pay your legal bills". Hopefully Farage will find that standing there laughing while an old man beats a woman with a stick is not a look that resonates with most of the British public. Apparently journalists were attacked too, one was punched in the head and they had bottles thrown at them.

One might, if one can jump through all the hoops of paper work, application forms, having someone (like I would do) help them, having someone (like I did) fill in the relevant health professional forms, be turned down, appeal, and finally, after winning the appeal, be granted some dosh to help one live a half decent life.

Whatley is a regular contender for Stupidest Tory of the Week, not to mention rather vindictive and tells lies.

Remember, enemies of the people.

The violence at the Reform Ltd rally and the masked 'protest' in Dover are quite a chilling warning of the path we're going down. In both cases you've got people who've been brainwashed into a fantasy where they're the brave heros fighting an invasion of subhuman monsters, they put on their costumes, be it the masks in Dover or the conference goers in their Union Jacks, turquois cowboy hats or in one case Richard Coeur de Lion costume and feel detached from the reality and consequences of their actions. It's Lord of the Flies without the excuse of being children.

It's fascism.

I was hoping to find YT footage of Jon Sopel interviewing the prick dressed as Richard the Lionheart at the Reform Ltd conference because it really shows how stupid and uneducated some of these people are, according to this dim bulb Richard 'defended this country', presumably he believes it was from his own brother, the tiger, with help from a fox with a bow and arrow.

Sopel mentioned 'Coeur de Lion' and suggested that invading Jerusalem might not be helpful at the moment but it was clear the cosplay king didn't have a clue what he was talking about, I'd have liked to have seen him told that Richard was a native French speaker who spent a total of about six months of his reign in England.

He also claimed 'They' are 'taking over', but resisted every invitation to explain who 'they' actually are.

I think there's an element of desperation. The media have stopped giving Reform a free ride. The immigration numbers are moving in the direction they claim to want. If the latter trend continues then the ex-hotels are abandoned and derelict, the small boats have disappeared, and with Trump hopefully reined in after the midterm elections the economy could be in an upswing. The only chance for the far right is to create the chaos they've been claiming is inevitable.

I know someone who gets the Scottish version of PIP, the Adult Disability Payment. He is unlikely to hold down a full time, even reasonably paid job. Instead, he manages some part-time work. The consequences of that are he will never pay National Insurance or otherwise qualify, so he will not get the State Pension. He may qualify, when he turns 68, for Pension Credit, that will top up the ADP to the same as the State Pension. He qualifies for the transport part of the ADP, which he can give up in return for a car, which is leased using that part of the benefit. The result is that he does make a contribution to society and in return he gets benefits that will barely cover his daily living costs.

It is not that complicated to find out how the system works, but sadly, many bad actors, including politicians, misrepresent the system.

"Oh, boo hoo."

Reform UK Treasury spokesperson Robert Jenrick tells a protester who appeared to have been hit by members at the party's conference to "get a life".

Hopefully Stamping on someone would bring a charge more serious than a simple assault. A bit of jail time please.
I think it comes in as an aggravating factor at sentencing:

Culpability

Where there are factors present from more than one category of culpability, the court should weigh those factors in order to decide which category most resembles the offender’s case.

A – High culpability

...snip...
  • Threatened or actual use of weapon or weapon equivalent*
...snip...

*Examples of a weapon equivalent can include but are not limited to: a shod foot, use of acid, use of animal in commission of offence.

Here’s Wobert £46 million quid Jenrick doubling down on his support for a female being beaten round the head with a stick because she’s a leftie

Lee Anderson mocked the woman who was assaulted with a walking stick at Reform’s conference.

He said: “If anybody wants to have a quick whip-round later, we’re collecting for a new walking stick.”

In 1856, American pro-slavery representative Preston Brooks inflicted grievous bodily harm on Charles Sumner after he beat him with a cane on the floor of the Senate chamber. Brooks's supporters sent him new canes to replace the one which had broken during the assault.

History rhyming again. A bit.
