We loved the Dick Turpin series.
We still have it on dvd, although I suspect it might not have dated all that well.
Best keep the memories from then in our mind.

I definitely watched Dick Turpin and Robin's Nest and remember odd bits about them (like "O'Reilly" being in the latter but with one arm and Dick Turpin having a sidekick called Swift Nick), but they're really early memories so I don't remember details, just that I liked them. For some reason I remember Swift Nick as Richie from Highlander the Series.
 
Robin's Nest was a spin off from Man About The House, as was George And Mildred.

Interesting, I know the names, but I don't remember the series.

FWIW, I just watched an episode of 'Man about the House', it is the sort of non-offensive gentle comedy I like. There is nothing wrong with entertainment being cosy.

Thinking back to my student flat in my second year with one guy and two girls, it wasn't much different; just fewer flares.

The reference to Gary Glitter doesn't date well!

When it was made the idea of a msn sharing a flat with two unmarried women was quite daring, especially for a TV primetime comedy.

And they were all remade for the US market as 'Threes Company', 'Threes a Crowd" and 'The Ropers'. But, while I remember the name 'Man About the House' and Paula Wilcox, I don't remember watching it, it finished when I was about five.

Did they make him pretend to be gay like they did here with Three's Company?
 
This really clarifies that sometimes we're worlds apart across the pond. I don't believe I've ever seen this person but he was obviously very popular.

Yes, sort of, to Mr Roper the landlord. Well at first, but it was forgotten about after a couple of episodes.

He was a good actor and had a likeable perdona and charm on screen.
He was also universally liked in the profession.
