The behaviour of UK police officers.

That is twice now in the space of a week, that the police have stood down vehicle pursuits as a car has gone the wrong way onto a major road and there has been a crash with multiple fatalities, first in Ireland and now Middlesbrough. There is apparently a tictoc craze for filming the thefts and high speeds. I hope people recognise the driver of the cars, who has caused the deaths not only of innocent road users, but also their friends, are held 100% to blame.

Yeah, that's what I thought originally, but it's the Babylon Bee, no-one could *possibly* think it was serious (especially given the nature of the story). Hell, we've discussed the Babylon Bee previously.

I favour drone deployed spike strips. Or building such into major roads.

The post immediately above quoted one referring to the Babylon Bee, but the link was to a story about someone being arrested for praying outside an abortion clinic. There was a long discussion of this sort of thing in the "UK has lost freedom of speech" thread recently.

I suspect that a higher proportion of ethnic minority murders are gang related, so they are the hardest to solve. The easiest to solve are murders by the victim's family or people they know. Next are "who done it" murders, which are getting rarer and include serial killers. Gang murder are the hardest because of active destruction of evidence and the wall of silence.

Like Vaughan Spruce and numerous others had nothing better to do than breach exclusion zones around clinics, which were only set up after repeated and persistent harassment by such "silent protesters" - discussed to death in other threads, as pointed out.

'Cos apparently being a christian means you can ignore the law...

ETA Not to mention that this is another example of Merkinanian right wing christian fundamentalists insisting on thrusting their views and culture wars on other countries - check out who and what the ADF are...

I don't have any connection with them. When I post these things it's about the behaviour of the police. I don't really give a ◊◊◊◊ what the background of the source is. That is utterly irrelevant.

I don't know who this ADF is nor do I know what their agenda is. All I do know is that this woman was arrested for silently praying and I was reminded about her by Rolfes joke.

Do you have an opinion on the actions of the police here?

Why so many of you go past the egregious behaviour of the subject matter to complain about the source is beyond me.

I agree that could weight it (if of course black british people are much more likely to be gangs than white british people) against the crimes being solved.

Do we have evidence that non-white British folk are more likely to be in criminal gangs?

In the instance cited the source is directly linked to what happened: the likes of the ADF and some of our home-grown "christians are being persecuted" merchants seem to deliberately set out to provoke such responses (like several of the "oh noes, I can't wear a crucifix!" types who are deliberately breaching jewellery rules which apply to all of us, e.g. some of the nursing ones I know about).

In this case, someone deliberately set out to break the regs about buffer/exclusion zones, knowing fine well what they were and already having legal back up in place. If her likes hadn't already been harassing folk outside such clinics, those regs would not have been in place.

The police actions seem OK to me, that is enforcing what they are supposed to enforce.
