Lawyers for the Department of Justice told a federal judge on Tuesday night that the scaffolding needs to stay there while workers perform “water testing and structural repairs to the roof” — but said that Trump’s name will return by September 8 at the earliest.

“The protective barrier around the scaffolding was and is a necessary element of the ongoing construction activities at the Center — during the removal of the name, it served as a safety barrier for ongoing construction activities and helped safeguard the marble facade of the building in light of reported panel damage,” they wrote.

Personally, I was under the impression that they just didn't want Trump to see any pictures of it with his name taken off. Whether it was actually off is another question entirely. Whether the crew they hired screwed up badly (a bit like with the reflecting pool) is another related question, though.

Not to worry, Congress can override that and name it whatever they want when they take control.

Could, perhaps. I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen unless Trump is removed in extreme disgrace, though.

Why would a carrier been named after an enlisted low rank soldier? Oh. I get it.

Nobody else wants to say it. Naming a ship after a black mess steward because he reacted with bravery during an attack on his ship feels like pandering. Sailors are supposed to react with bravery during battles

There were hundreds if not thousands of white sailors who were just as if not more brave that day, they got nothing.

I'm getting damn tired of the left 'forgetting' military customs and standards every time they want to take a potshot at Trump.

Aircraft carriers have historically been named after President's. And Destroyers after war heroes. Under Trump, military recruiting numbers have sky rocketed. These are easily verifiable facts. He deserves a carrier named after him.

DEI is dead. It needs to be renamed after our greatest President.

Navy Cross merits a destroyer, not a carrier.
