The behaviour of UK police officers.

Assuming you were talking to me, as mine was the post above yours...

My post was clarifying the "not a homophobe" comment you made in response to Catsmate.

And I believe Nessie has the rest covered. To which I would add, sometimes wind up merchants need to know when to stop winding folk up.
My post was emphasising that the Bigot from Bath is not a reliable source.

You don't like him, so he's lying. How sceptical.
Sigh. Your usual childish strawmannery. If there is independent evidence to support "Reverend" Campbell's claims please feel free to provide it. Alone he's an unreliable source.

The investigation into the numerous crimes of Simon Levy was deeply flawed and may have contributed to the deaths if two women.

Actually it's worse.

If you'd asked me for my views on that one I would have said that the judge got it totally wrong,. Not to mention that the court of appeal has just agreed with that: do keep up.
The problem here is that the cleanup happens after the fact, but nothing is being learned, and the thing that causes the mess in the first place is never addressed. Its like a never-ending game of "whack-a-mole", but no-one gets that maybe eliminating the moles in the first place is a better idea to prevent repeat incidents.

In the case, in question, Judge Rowland needs to be investigated for his appalling lack of public awareness, and at the very least censured for getting this so wrong. He's not the first judge to make such terrible decisions. There have been cases where a immigrants have been convicted of rape, and an attempts were made deport them, but judges ruled they not be deported because they had a "right to a family life". What about their victims? Did they not have that right as well?

I was struck by this, from the BBC report:

"Levy had violently forced her to the ground and jumped on her, breaking her collarbone and banging her head against the ground. He then suffocated and raped her. The woman thought she was going to die and lost consciousness, only regaining it later - seriously injured and alone.

She told her arresting officers she did not know Levy's name but she had seen him in the area. Indeed, years before, he had asked her for sex and tried to put his hand between her legs when she refused.

The Met proceeded to arrest the woman and took her into police custody."

This is a link to an article in The Times.

You don't like him. You disagree with him on a number of issues. You therefore conclude that he's lying. This seems a little unwarranted.

What's your opinion of the actions of the police, just on the off-chance that he's telling the truth?

That's appalling. Is there any explanation for why they were so relaxed about letting this monster go free time and time again? Or were they just too busy warning journalists not to investigate Jason Arday because they were upsetting him?

The missing context being:

She spoke to police a few days after the rape, when she was arrested for breaching a community notice which prevented her from being in the area.

She's an immigrant, a sex worker and a woman.....

I think that is one of the biggest problems with the police.
