Not to mention that the legal case was NOT defeated in Romania. It's just on pause, and they're supposed to return there to face the rap when Romania decides to hit the pause button and unpause it again. So that's at the very least another 2+ years in the can fighting that extradition again. Plus, again, even if not extradited, Romania too can just hand over the evidence to the USA, since the USA child predator laws forbid it even abroad if you ever set foot in the USA. And again, none of that counts as credit for time served towards a conviction.
