Steroid abuse anyone?

Common in certain circles? Readily available in numerous gyms over here (pretty much everyone I know who uses/used gyms, from my university flatmate through Carrot Flower Queen to several of my bairns and more have been offered steroids in gyms - you only need to look at a photo of Raoul Moat and any number of other violent types).
 
Andrew Tate's lawyer, Joseph McBride: The Romanian court order "essentially stays the United Kingdom's extradition proceedings."

Romania's own prosecutors today: "Should the two individuals be surrendered to the British authorities, the possibility of initiating proceedings for their surrender to Romania will be assessed..."

The Romanian order governed extradition from Romania. It did not prevent the US from deciding the UK's extradition request under US law

TBH, I think they really should choose to be extradited to the UK. If they go to a Romanian jail, those are just one step above the Soviet gulag or the hell that Vitaly Zdorovetskiy has been going through in the Philippines. And actually I'm not sure about the Philippines. And even if they let Florida convict them -- which they WILL, especially after the Tates mocked the DA as a low testosterone loser -- they might be murdered in the first month, or find out first hand what "prison napalm" is. (Don't look it up unless you're prepared for gruesome stuff.) Child molesters tend to live very short lives in US prisons. Which I guess is why they're supposedly in solitary confinement.

I suspect that lags and screws on both sides of the pond would have a nigh-uncontrollable urge to put him in the infirmary just on general principles. I know I do, and have had since long before these allegations came out.

In the UK they would be put on the prison wing for vulnerable prisoners.

It's still no guarantee of safety though, they are very high profile with arrogant celebrities'tough guy' reputations, that in itself will make them targets.
Also vulnerable prisoners incudes prisoners from the general population put there for their own safety after running up debts or upsetting people.

I've seen a video from an ex-convict who seriously doubts that the Tates actually are in the SHU, if they can keep going on social media. In the SHU you are extremely limited in your communication, and even what you can have on you. You ain't bringing a phone into the SHU. That or someone else is posting in their name.

I am not an expert on the topic, but I'll trust someone with first hand prison experience.

They have not been convicted of anything. They are just on remand. They aren't on the same regime as convicts.
 
The SHU in jails is the same as in prisons, allegedly. It's the same "the hole" for protection as for punishment in both cases. The USA doesn't have a unit for vulnerable people. It's either normal or "the hole." People even do stuff like carve a shank, put it under their mattress, and anonymously report themselves to get sent to solitary, because there's no such thing as different protection than the same solitary for just being vulnerable and targeted. As I was saying, no experience with that myself, I'm just trusting someone who's been there personally.

Current guidelines for those on remand seem to be these:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE
§551.100 Purpose and scope.
In addition to convicted inmates, the Bureau of Prisons houses persons who have not
been convicted. Procedures and practices required for the care, custody, and control of
such inmates may differ from those established for convicted inmates. Pretrial inmates
will be separated, to the extent practicable, from convicted inmates. Except as specified
by this rule, policies and standards applicable to persons committed to the custody of the
Attorney General or the Bureau of Prisons apply also to pretrial inmates as defined in
§551.101. Section 3 of this Program Statement contains definitions from §551.101.
a. Program Objectives. The expected results of this program are:
 Pretrial inmates will be separated to the extent practicable from convicted inmates. When this
is not practicable, employees will screen and assess pretrial inmates, permitting those who do
not present a risk to the security or orderly running of the institution to have regular contact
with convicted inmates.
 Pretrial inmates will not be required to work (other than housekeeping tasks in their cells or
community living area), unless they waive their right not to work.
 An initial assessment of pretrial inmates will be conducted within 48 hours of admission.
 Pretrial inmates will be offered the opportunity to participate in institution programs and
services as is consistent with safety and the orderly running of the institution.

Duly noted, but that's still different from being in SHU, aka "the hole," as they claimed. If they actually were in the hole, no, they wouldn't get to keep a cell phone.

But then the Tates being dishonest... well, I'm shocked ;)

They are still in jail, lots of people in jail have not been convicted of anything. They don't let cell phones in though.
