Having seen this performative behaviour I think that it absolutely reasonable for non-US citizens who are not obliged to appear, to refuse to appear before congressional hearings. This is not about fact finding, it is the very opposite. It is political grandstanding. An Epstein inquiry would be no less performative. (See the Clinton's appearance.)

This sort of behaviour will further reinforce to the rest of the world what a low ebb US politics is at. This is a show trial.

I find it astonishing that people are still going on about hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin which have been repeatedly shown to be ineffective in well conducted scientific studies. These people are rewriting science and history like soviet era show trials.

As far as I know, no health agency anywhere in the World has approved of the use of either ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19.
IIRC, one Chinese in vitro study alluded at the possibility of its use at the start of the pandemic, a number of idiots (Raoult in France*) suddenly decided it was the expected panacea, and the dispute immediately became political rather than medical.

Yes. There is a bunch of evidence against the notion that ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine is effective for Covid-19 and scant, if any, evidence that it works. Despite that, vaccination deniers are doing their best to "win" that argument by using political and social power, since they have no science to back their claims.
