Apollo 11 Moon Landing Revisited: Hoax ~vs~ Debunk

I guess if I needed to have explained my 'joke' ...

I'll just be over here in my cultural bubble, re-watching 'The Troubled Spirit'.

The Space 1999 screen shots illustrate what might be an actual relevant point here: it's possible that some of the intransigence over the insistence that bright stars "should" be visible in Apollo photographs is because it contradicts some people's lived experience of watching movies in which they've seen spacecraft take off from a planet's surface in broad daylight and go whizzing through the murky atmosphere in a few blurry seconds and then suddenly they reach SPACE and immediately bright stars are clearly visible. It doesn't matter that there's been insufficient time for anyone's eyes to adjust to darkness of space; it doesn't matter if there are other ships or ones own ship still lit by daylight in the same field of view; it doesn't matter if those ships are the size of cities and lit up like used car lots; it doesn't matter if there are also enormous sunlit moons or planets or planet-sized space stations also filling the view; it doesn't even matter if our plucky craft is dodging incoming energy weapon fire of sufficient brightness to damage or destroy any object it hits. When you're in space in movies the stars are right there out and proud.

You can calculate ISOs and exposure times and f stops til the cow that jumped over the moon splashes down, but it won't convince someone who's been there in a cinema to see the stars pop out like the Main Street Electrical Parade as their hired Corellian light freighter or converted Hervester Attacker or jury-rigged Bird of Prey or even customized Space Shuttle breaks through the upper atmosphere.
