Apollo 11 Moon Landing Revisited: Hoax ~vs~ Debunk

The Blackburn Buccaneer used by the Fleet Air Arm had the same crescent wing, high tail and 'area rule' fuselage as the Victor. It had a rotating bomb bay to keep the lines clean in an attack and a legendary low level capability.

I once worked with a lad who was a navigator/bombadier in RAF Buccaneers. Invalided out after he lost an eye. Which wasn't anything to do with flying around at stupid speeds, 2 inches off the ground.

Apropos of nothing...

One thing I particularly enjoy about that era of military aviation is that each nation's designs seemed to have a signature "look". U.S., British, Soviet - each had a distinctive aesthetic, almost like designs from a sci-fi series. The Victor is particularly British looking, to my eye.

It's hard to get much more Soviet looking than the early Tu-22.

I take it the giant Y-shaped stick with a huge elastic band tied to it is out of shot?

The ISS certainly is developing it, as I said.

Perhaps in future acknowledge I might be better informed than you.
So!
Fly to the moon, pick up the water, take it back to the ISS, refuel, fly to the moon, pick up the water, take it back to the ISS, refuel, fly to the moon, pick up the water, take it back to the ISS, refuel, fly to the moon, pick up the water, take it back to the ISS, refuel, fly to the moon, pick up the water, take it back to the ISS, refuel, fly to the moon, pick up the water, take it back to the ISS, refuel, fly to the moon ...
Just checking @Vixen, have I grasped it?

My father was an RAF Buccaneer pilot for several years (the above photo shows an RAF aircraft rather than a Fleet Air Arm variant)

Then clarify your position, please.

Tom Kelly vigorously maintained that he built a working lunar module that flew to the Moon and landed on it. Did he do that or not? You maintain the technology "wasn't ready" for Apollo 11, but Kelly adamantly claims that Eagle, LM-5, was not only ready but functioned admirably as claimed and documented.

Was Tom Kelly fooled? Was Tom Kelly lying? Was his whole career nothing but the mediocre effects of "mean standard deviation?"
So, where are we at now?

Debunkers' claims:

  1. It was quite normal for Nixon to ring 'the surface of the Moon' from the Oval on live black and white TV, 1969.
  2. Tom Kelly is an absolute legend. Dare anyone blaspheme Apollo 11?
  3. Was Tom Kelly fooled?
  4. Was Tom Kelly lying?
  5. Was his whole career nothing but the mediocre effects of "mean standard deviation?"
<fx stunned silence, outbreaks of sobs, hubbub, murmurs, the audience is on its feet with thunderous applause>

So there we have the Appeal to the Crowd.

Anyone dissing Tom Kelly will be tarred and feathered.

If you kept up with the news as I do you'd know the plans for ISS.

Apparently amid a crowd of straw men.

Anyone dissing Tom Kelly will be tarred and feathered.
Anyone suggesting without evidence that Tom Kelly did not do what he claims expertly to have done will be closely questioned, as would be appropriate.

You say Apollo 11 was not ready to fly. Does that include LM-5? If it does, how you do account for the fact that its principal designer—well-respected in the field both before and after this—certified that it was? We cite to his legendary status to point out, among other things, how difficult it would be for someone else to fool him in his noted area of expertise. It is also unlikely that someone of that stature would willingly participate in a hoax that could end his career and land him in prison if he were caught.
