Apollo 11 Moon Landing Revisited: Hoax ~vs~ Debunk

<sfx vague beeps and crackling>

COMING THROUGH, A DEEP BOOMING NON-HUMAN-SOUNDING VOICE: This-is-the-voice-of-the-Mysterons! Earthlings-can-you-hear-us...?

RADIO ENTHUSIAST: Hold on...just let me get the right wavelength and frequency...need to adjust the antenna a bit...hello? Are you there? Hello...?
Oh you poor, poor thing.

Thanks for this very helpful insight, I guess.

Are you attempting to convince us that early transatlantic phone calls were not made using a radio link, or perhaps that radio communications cannot reach as far as the moon?

If you could be a little less cryptic it would help us decide if you are actually attempting to make what you hope is a valid point, or if you are just goofing around to give the false impression your mistakes were just jokes.

Of course they managed to explain it.

Of course Nixon gave Buzz a buzz whilst he was prancing around collecting Moon rocks. Shee-eesh!
You are still trying to give the impression that either you do not believe it was technically possible to patch a telephone call to a radio uplink to the moon, or that you do not believe Nixon understood that there would be a radio link for the earth-moon hop of his phone call.

Both are incredibly stupid, but you haven't made it clear which stupid thing it is that you believe. Can you clarify please?

Both stupid things, of course.

She's probably confused it with pirate radio stations like Radio Caroline.

Once again the great lesson that fails to be learned: check before posting.
Indeed. She fails to remember that the reason she was listening under the sheets at night is that that's the only time when Luxembourg was broadcasting, to reach the UK with their 208m medium wave transmitter.

The thing about the moon is you have a direct line of sight (so long as you have a number of receiving sites to switch between as the earth turns). You don't have line of sight from Luxembourg to the UK.

I made a joke quite a while back about Elon Musk running an extension lead back from his mooted power generators on the Moon. Perhaps someone didn't see it was a joke?

No, I am saying Nixon is not credible. The 'explanatory' stuff about having to do it via this means and that is post hoc rationalisation to make the story fit the feel-good factor. You can think of an explanation to explain anything.

I listened to that, too. The thrust was the poor quality.

I can recall as a kid listening to my little tranny under the sheets desperately waiting for Radio Luxemburg to play Homeward Bound again, which was on a half hour loop. The sound was dreadful, coming in and out, with all kinds of crackling and hissing. It was transmitting from the North Sea (to beat the broadcasting laws).

So yeah, 250,000 miles to the Moon's surface...doddle. I feel sorry for the poor crew of the 2028 Artemis who will have to suffer a real phone call from the current White House incumbent, probably in the early hours...They could just take the headphones off and let him ramble on...
The moon is direct line of sight from the earth.
Can you see how that's different to you in your bed and the Radio Luxembourg transmitter?
