Cont: Global warming discussion V

Fake video. Chinese EVs are not yet for sale in Canada except for the supercar that cost's well over $100K.
I do admire the video's willingness to attack American unionised labour while completely ignoring the myriad of imported vehicles available in the country.
Do you think that Trump's tariffs are an attempt to protect unions?
No and maybe, I pay some guy to look after that stuff for me. Are you a CCP bot?
No, and nobody pays me to do anything.

Helping US tech comps & natural gas sales.
Alberta "aims to attract $100 billion in investment. Projects to date amount to over 18 GW, which would be supported by natural gas power plants"
“If 18 GW were added supported by natural gas, this could generate...almost 3% of Canada’s total emissions”
It notes much of that new capacity would go toward the largest U.S. tech companies.“If all of the proposed AI data centre projects were built, Canada would trail only the U.S. within the G7 in compute capacity, but with much of this capacity used to support the U.S. hyperscalers.”

How did Stout put it? "We have to pay for these expensive social problems the population is demanding somehow."
Because 'the population' just can't get enough data centers, those insatiable bastards!

Trump? Dunno, but super-lefty mega-woke Justin Trudeau imposed a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs to protect the domestic auto industry which, as I'm sure you're aware, employs thousands of ununionized auto workers.

How did Stout put it? "We have to pay for these expensive social problems the population is demanding somehow."

What? Are you seriously trying to equate data centers with things like health care and education? I mean visiting Dr. Google and going to YouTube high may be the European normal but it's not something the majority of Canadian voters are trying to emulate.

As I'm sure you're aware, protecting the domestic auto industry is very different from protecting workers, unionized or not. Workers are employed only as long as employers think they're useful for their purpose in life which is the bottom line of the company, not the people living paycheck-to-paycheck.
Measures to protect the business interests of capitalists are always potrayed as a service to help workers, which I'm sure that you ... no, you're probably not even aware of that, much the same way you are not aware that the purpose of AI centers isn't to employ thousands of unionized AI-center workers.

Why on earth would I equate data centers with health care and education? Data centers are supposed to make HCWs and teachers redundant, which I doubt is something the majority of Canadian voters for or will appreciate.

Alberta is betting its AI future on natural gas-powered data centres. But a global shortage of gas turbines could delay projects, drive up costs and complicate the province’s $100-billion ambitions.

Alberta's data centre dreams face headwinds (The Narwhal, July 9, 2026)
A global shortage of gas turbines means long wait-lists and[higher] higher prices for Alberta to build AI centres.[/hilite]
All to protect unionized workers, and just what Canadian voters always desired and voted for, right?!

No doubt the corporate fat cats red The Secret and treated themselves to a luxury retreat where they sat around willing the autos and parts to simply manifest themselves but I highly suspect that approach was a failure and they actually really need those tens of thousands of workers to actually make their product. Much in the way that data centers are going to need people to build them, and their power supplies.

The why is my question. The only reason Dr. Google is gaining so much ground is due to a meatspace doctor shortage. As for teachers being replaced by AI? Doubt it. Good unionized factory workers need somewhere to drop off their kids while they're busy operating the means of production.

Because the only way to make workers superfluous is to 'will the autos and parts to simply manifest themselves,' right?
How dumb does he think we are?
And the data centers that will replace people will also need people to build them and their power supplies.

Somehow, it never occurs to the promoters of global warming that wind turbines and solar parks "need people to build them" and maintain them.

Again, factory workers (even in factories manufacturing solar panels and wind turbines) need institutions to look after their kids, but as far as teaching goes, you have to be extremely uninformed to not know that teachers' jobs are some of those that AI fans hope to replace. 'Meatspace doctors,' too, but as always capitalists will argue that AI is only there to make their jobs easier.
So AI it is, instead of educating and training more doctors and nurses.

The Pollution Being Churned Out by AI Data Centers Is So Severe That It’s Almost Incomprehensible (Futurism, July 9, 2026)
The extent of the this polluting activity is confounding. As climate action group Floodlight found in a recent investigation spotted by Wired, Texas has become the epicenter of the United States’ current obsession with constructing AI data centers. Companies are exploiting regulatory loopholes as they construct new facilities powered by pollutant-spewing onsite gas plants.

Robots ‘to make 100pc of cars by 2030’
Gartner analyst Marco Sandrone said that today, the installation of the wire harness and cabin components are the only parts of the assembly line that are normally not fully automated.
Yes, people will be needed to build factories, set up production lines and maintain the equipment, - but not very many of them. 90% of the workers that were needed to build automobiles in the 1960s have already been shed. In the next 5 years it may be 95%, and this will be a good thing because it means vehicles get cheaper and human labor is freed up for more important work.

The why is my question. The only reason Dr. Google is gaining so much ground is due to a meatspace doctor shortage. As for teachers being replaced by AI? Doubt it. Good unionized factory workers need somewhere to drop off their kids while they're busy operating the means of production.
There won't be many unionized (or other) factory workers.

What we do know is that the sheep helping maintain solar parks, i.e. preventing them from being overgrown by grass and weeds, still aren't electric.
I don't think anybody asked them what they dream of.

Interesting synergy.

Watching that, I wondered if another contribution to 'greening the desert' was the solar panels acting as dew traps*. Clearly reducing surface winds not only reduces water loss by evaporation but also soil loss by reducing surface soils from being blown away. The shading effect and reducing soil heating and thus evaporation is the most obvious effect.

The reverse synergy is that the grasses by 'fixing' the soil probably reduce dust settling on the solar panels which reduces their efficiency. Then you can use the wool from the sheep to clean the solar panels!

Effectively the Solar farm may be carbon negative if it is leading to carbon trapping by grasses and locking organic matter in to soils.

*This paper directly links solar panels and dehumidification (fancy dew traps);

Although if you start breeding sheep to graze around solar farms, the ghg released by the sheep would not do the scheme any favours being ruminants .
The sheep not the solar panels.

As I already said in post 2,426:
But...but...but leftist super hunk Justin Trudeau told us it was all about the workers.

Look here

Ottawa is following through now, Trudeau said, "to level the playing field for Canadian workers" and allow Canada's nascent EV industry to compete at home, in North America and globally.
If you can't trust a woke environmentalist who's currently jet setting around the world following some Epstein class Hollywood chick, who can you trust?

Yea, but those people are futurists who live in domed houses, wear metallic silver jumpsuits and dream of commuting to work using a jet pack. Nobody cares about what they have to say.

Your link talks about using AI to share healthcare data, there's nothing about replacing doctors in there.

Notice that Stout for some reason calls Trudeau a leftist and a woke environmentalist. In comparison to Stout, it may be true, I guess, but he never was.
Stop swooning over Justin Trudeau. The man is a disaster for the planet (TheGuardian, April 17, 2017)
Donald Trump is a creep and unpleasant to look at, but at least he's not a stunning hypocrite when it comes to climate change
(...)
The project is backed by Malaysia's energy giant Petronas. Environmentalists 'expected better' of Trudeau as Canada backs gas project.

There is never anything "about replacing doctors," nurses, teachers, factory workers or anybody else. That's the point of that kind of propganda.
Stout's claims are in line with all other bourgeois accounts, in this respect. Everything is always claimed to be for the benefit of "good unionized factory workers."
It's always about creating jobs and making work easier. The latter is just another euphemism for making work so 'easy' that workers are no longer needed and thus laid off. See Roger Ramjet's post.

Fake news CCP propaganda

The moisture comes from the water used to clean the solar panels. There's a big river with a hydroelectric dam right next door and Big Solar has deemed using sheep as the most cost effective way of controlling grass growth.

Just in case you were looking for something else to keep you up at night. Australia would like us to know that climate change enables pedophilia. So, ugh, more money for NGOs?
