Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump

This Great Deal will bring Peace and Security to the whole Region.
Many presidents have tried to make Peace with Iran, and all have failed before me.
The Leaders of the Region have, for the first time, found a President who can help them achieve real Peace.
With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region, and the World!

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has confirmed in a phone call on state TV that a deal with the US has been finalised and the official signing will happen in Switzerland on Friday.

"An immediate and permanent end to the war and military operations on different fronts including Lebanon will be announced tonight," he says.

He adds that the US naval blockade against Iran will also be lifted tonight.

If this article is true about what was agreed to, then it looks like the US made all the concessions to get the Strait of Hormuz opened, including unfreezing of Iranian assets.

What did the US actually gain from this?

Peace with Iran? Is that how Trump is spinning it?

One of the most politically sensitive provisions concerns the scope of future negotiations.

According to Mehr, discussions would be limited to the fate of enriched uranium, enrichment activities, sanctions relief and economic reconstruction. Iran's missile program and support for allied armed groups would be explicitly excluded from the agenda.

On the economic front, the draft reportedly calls for the suspension of sanctions on Iranian oil, petrochemical products and related exports, allowing Tehran full access to the resulting revenues. It also includes a requirement for the United States and its allies to present reconstruction plans worth at least $300 billion for Iran.

Mehr reported that the two sides would then enter a 60-day period of negotiations aimed at reaching a final agreement covering Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of US primary and secondary sanctions, as well as UN Security Council and IAEA-related restrictions.

I think this proves beyond doubt that Trump is a terrible negotiator.

Is it, though? How many times has it happened, and been taken as a declaration of war, for that to be the usual thing? Can you give examples? Because I have a few counter-examples lined up.
I don't know exactly. Maybe I should have said considered grounds for a declaration of war.

My guess is just so Trump can say he ended another war. I haven't heard anything about nukes, regime change, democracy protections, etc. And a lot will happen between now and Friday.

This deal is so much better than Obama's!

All that time wasted auditing Iran's nukes is gone - no deal, no audit. Piece of cake.

Even the thickest-skulled MAGA fool can't see this as a good outcome.

Where's the defenders to explain why it was worth all those billions of dollars wasted?

Leave me out of this. I never thought he wasn't.

TRump failed to accomplish any of his goals when he started the war. I guess he will try to claim a win, but if this is a win I sure as hell don't want to see what a loss looks like.

Enables? Pretty sure I remember you saying that the Lebanese government is irrelevant because Hezbollah is far stronger than government forces. The latter could well be true, but that would undermine the former claim.
Basic problem is that the Lebanese goverment does not control pretty big chunks of Lebanon. Absolute Mess.
