Merged (edited) General thoughts about Christianity and the bible

What interest does God have then in my private activities? If there is no interest, what's the point of being omnipresent?
Luke 12:6-7 NIV
Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God.
7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

The Egyptians rounded up all the local gods of the Nile Valley and created one religion of them. The Romans also "accepted" local gods, including Egyptian gods as long as you accepted Ceasar as the top dog, umm, god..
The Egyptian sun god and the cult of Isis mythologies created a similar base as Christian faiths use. Just change names and revise the mythology as society advanced.

So I should have a blind trust in ancient mythologies distorted and updated by ever more modern villages over millenia so I can receive benefits that shall not be defined and hope for an eternal life with Amun-Ra 2.0.

Not to take a shot at Rusty, a general statement. Faith benefits the weak and ignorant. And thier leaders.

If a leader convinces a bunch of bronze age illiterate goat herders to have faith that thier poor and miserable lives will be improved by believing in their god said leader preaches.
You suffer now, life is fragile and safety fleeting but just believe, this god will save you.
If you keep the leader well fed and give him an easier life than your own he will transmit blessings from this god you hope in.
If you do it right your afterlife will be easy compared to now, you will always be safe!

Isn't that something to hope for?

What Was Found in Noah’s Ark site Changes Everything

What researchers just pulled out of the ground at the Noah's Ark site in eastern Turkey is forcing scientists to rewrite what they thought they knew. Beneath the Durupinar formation, eight feet down, the scans are revealing something no one was prepared to see. Not stone. Not erosion. Not the natural accident every textbook has called it for sixty years. The shapes appearing on the radar match the dimensions of an ancient text written thousands of years before the technology to find them existed. And what came up next from inside the formation is the part that changes everything.
Your God gave you reason. Why don't you apply it to things like this?

Your gullibility really has no bounds, does it.

How the ◊◊◊◊ do you get dimensions on text?
I assume it's a clumsily worded way to claim that the object purportedly detected matches the dimensions of Noah's ark given in Genesis. From the engineering perspective, a wooden ship longer than about 100 meters cannot survive wave stresses. Noah's ark would have been the largest wooden ship ever constructed, including modern attempts. Yet somehow this miraculous shipbuilding knowledge existed for only one vessel.

In other words, and for many other reasons, a completely nonsensical claim.

What's unreasonable about a scientific group researching the possibility of Noah's Ark found on Mt. Ararat?
Because it's been done unsuccessfully so many other times. It's like all the Mormon "archaeologists" puttering around Mesomerica hoping to find more Reformed Egyptian. They always like to think they succeeded somehow in some vague way. But it never pans out.

The ark story is facially improbable if not impossible. Thus it's only taken literally by Evangelical Christians and fundamentalist Muslims who can't seem to understand how not to read a text hyper literally.
