Trump's Second Term

The Washington Post
@washingtonpost
Breaking news: Trump administration officials have pressed the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design a $250 bill featuring the president’s portrait, in what would be the first appearance of a living person on U.S. currency in more than 150 years.

Breaking News: Bureau of Engraving and Printing take a cue from 1920's Germany and are prepared with banknote overstamps of "thousand" and "million" due to inflation.

Prepared for everything

COLLINS: You said it's up to Congress if Trump's face is on a $250 bill, but the Post reports it's actually 2 political appointees from Treasury who asked agencies to be ready to do that--

BESSENT: I don't really understand that Post article. Terribly written, terribly edited. We prepare for everything

COLLINS: Politically, do you think it's a good idea to put the president's face on a $250 bill when people are struggling to afford gas and groceries?

BESSENT: Do you think we should have a 250th celebration?

COLLINS: But that's happening anyway--

BESSENT: No. It's happening because it's being funded

He'll be the butt of jokes for a long, long, long time.

He's been the butt of jokes for most of his life. Quite deservedly so, at that.

With that said, that may not mean too much in a climate where I have little doubt that Gore never stopped being the butt of jokes about how he claimed to have invented the Internet, even though he didn't say anything that could reasonably be interpreted that way in the first place and what he actually did say was firmly supported by the experts.

Because everyone knows that the gold at Fort Knox is the world's only gold.

And that there was that little actually there, among all the rest of the incongruities invoked with their dishonestly manufactured efforts to sabotage the government and country via rhetoric and psychological manipulation.

Repulsive. Just when you start to think they can’t possibly go lower.

Repusive, certainly. That is still far from the lowest that they've gone, though, I think. I also think that the whole "can't possibly go lower" thing is no better than issuing a challenge for them to outdo themselves. A challenge that they will happily accept to spite us all.

My reaction to that picture was basically just to cringe. I suppose that it is in line with how aesthetically displeasing Trump's style always seems to be, though.

Faulkner: Sanctuary cities includes Boston, Chicago and Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco…all of those airports handle 1,100 international flights per day. They're not just gonna not fly. They're going to go to red states and cities. A boon for red states. People will hate living in blue states.

Yes, it's no secret that the Republican Party is actively seeking to sabotage the country and working to sell it by pretending that their sabotage will help the people that they ostensibly represent, but keep screwing over hard in a myriad of ways anyways.

Rep. Sheri Biggs on South Carolina: "Right now, we have one congressman that's Democrat. I think a 7 and 0 map would definitely reflect our values. We should have only Americans voting in our elections."

Whew. Lucky for her, she didn't say patriots, because then 7 Democrats and 0 Republicans would definitely directly reflect the voter's values.

Bessent: At present, no living person can be on U.S. Currency. Right now, there is proposed legislation to change that so Donald J. Trump could be on the $250 bill. We have prepared things in advance.
Given the fact that any legislation to authorize the new $250 bill would require at least some democratic support to overcome the filibuster, I think it is safe to say that the $250 bill is not going to be a thing.

(I know there have been cases where some democrats have sided with the republicans over things like government funding to end a government shutdown, but I doubt republicans would be able to force the issue with the $250 bill in the same way.)

I'm all for it.

People think that's the serial number of the bill in the upper left corner, but its really the launch codes for American nuclear missiles.

Its the only way they could get Trump to remember it.

Blanche on Fraud: This is our tax dollars. The only way to hold them accountable is by putting them in jail.

Cain: Does that include politicians?

Blanche: It does not matter if you are a politician or a fraudster from Somalia—Governor Walz is a good example. He’s doing nothing but sue us for trying to get records from his state

What, Kid Rock had a schedule conflict?

The featured performers for The Great American State Fair on the National Mall:

-Vanilla Ice
-Martina McBride
-Young MC
-C+C Music Factory
-Milli Vanilli
-The Commodores
- Flo Rida
-Bret Michaels
So Young MC has already bailed.

Now apparently Milli Vanilli has just bailed (apparently the modern band was made up of the actual singers, not the dancers who lipsycned and one of whom came to a tragic end. )

The Commodores apparently are still on but have only one surviving member and he's 77.

C+C Music Factory defended their (his) performance in a 7 minute rant while sitting on the toilet. https://stereogum.com/2500391/cc-mu...cert-critics-in-seven-minute-toilet-rant/news

Morris Day was also apparently listed early on but said "nah".

Google Gemini on cabinet adulation:
Specific examples of the adulation from the meeting include:
  • Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: Stated that Trump's leadership on D.C. pool renovations was a "great segue" to compare him to George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. Hegseth added that across both of his presidencies, Trump was the "only one man" who successfully stood up to Iran.
  • Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent: Credited the "continued resilience" of the U.S. economy directly to the strength of Trump's leadership.
  • SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler: Told Trump, “You have made us a nation of builders again" and credited him with leading the country to the "greatest economy that the world has ever known."
  • EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin: Commended the President by saying "thanks to your leadership," a multi-billion dollar Biden-era environmental fund had been canceled.
  • State Department and CIA Officials: Media reports from The Independent noted that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA Director John Ratcliffe packed the majority of their designated speaking time with direct praise. [1, 2, 3]
The meeting was widely described by media commentators as highly sycophantic, with officials careful to credit Trump's leadership for all departmental achievements.

Iran may have agreed so Trump can have his cage match party and not end a war in a whimpering withdrawal just yet:
Fox
BREAKING: The United States and Iran have agreed to a 60-day memorandum of understanding for a ceasefire extension. The move will lead to opening talks on Iran’s nuclear program, although the agreement is still waiting on President Trump’s final approval.

Yes Benny, we all know the idiocy that is Voyager, I mean MAGA, has captured the party long ago. What's his record in actual elections?

Jessica: Moving past having to talk about sundowning -- at least for Joe Biden, we can talk about it for Trump. He falls asleep all the time.

Gutfeld: You are calling Trump sundowning? That is rich. That is a symptom of Alzheimer's.
