Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

Why does a ceasefire between the US/Israel and Iran have to include Hezbollah? That's not a logical necessity. That may be a choice Iran is making, but they don't have to make it. It's part of their 10 point proposal, but the US and Israel have not and never will agree to all 10 points. So where did this idea that Hezbollah is part of the ceasefire come from? Shehbaz Sharif apparently claimed it was in a tweet but I can find no confirmation that the US and Israel actually agreed to this.

I don't know why the US or Israel would agree to that, nor do I think it's an honest demand from Iran either. They don't actually control Hezbollah, they can't actually stop Hezbollah from launching attacks. So even if the cease fire did include them, that would mean the US could resume hostilities against Iran even if Iran did nothing at all to violate the cease fire. Why would Iran want to put themselves in that position? It seems to me that any cease fire with Hezbollah should be negotiated separately with Hezbollah.
Hezbollah did stop launching attacks at the time of the cease fire. Pakistan the brokers of the cease fire are clear that the agreement included Lebanon. Israel clearly does not want peace by continuing to attack Lebanon they are hoping to break the cease fire. The US and Israel clearly agreed to it as they ceased to attack Iran.

Perhaps Iran actually wants peace? Your case is that Iran could continue to attack Israel if it didn't attack the US because to wasn't violating the US / Iran deal.

@realDonald Trump
Iran is doing a very poor job, dishonorable some would say, of allowing Oil to go through the Strait of Hormuz. That is not the agreement we have! President DONALD J. TRUMP

For the record, Americans do not have a constitutional right to "vaguely" threaten physical harm to elected officials, or anyone else. Facebook and Twitter report users to law enforcement regularly, and this can end with an arrest, and even jail. This predates social media. Someone spouting off about how so-and-so needs a bullet to the head will result with police knocking on their door looking for an explanation. If the President of threatened the Secret Service show up, and that person goes to prison. Threats against Congressional, Senate, SCOTUS, and POTUS are dealt with harshly. Always have been.

Well, hang on. Americans have a constitutionally guaranteed right to say practically anything at all. Even threats of violence are protected speech unless they meet the three-pronged Brandenburg test. To be unprotected by the First Amendment, a threat of violence must be (1) intended to provoke violence that is (2) imminent and is (3) likely to be acted upon. Thus, generally, a vague threat, even against an elected official, is protected speech. That doesn't mean that if you make a vague threat against the President you won't get a knock on the door by the FBI or Secret Service; indeed, they have a duty to investigate. But there is a lot of space between getting investigated and getting convicted in court.

Iran has demanded compensation for the damage caused by the attacks.
A toll on oil might be the least painful and disruptive way to collect it, and hit only those who can afford it the most.

I don't think they actually expect Israel or the US to pay anything.

Citing numerous sources, Gemini.ai states that Hezbollah is under the direct control of the IRGC:

"As of early 2026, IRGC commanders are personally managing Hezbollah's strategic war plans and executing operations, effectively bypassing the group's traditional Lebanese leadership. Lebanese officials, including the Prime Minister, have publicly stated that the IRGC is now orchestrating Hezbollah's combat operations."
You're using AI, which is known to have a sycophancy problem, to support your argument.

Good-oh, as my Pa used to say.

I wonder if this was a consequence of Israel taking out the local Lebanese leadership with Iran moving into the vacuum created.

Watters: They have a nuclear powered aircraft carrier, it's just hanging around the mediterranean. It could be in the gulf in just a few days. We saved the French twice from the Germans. They can't do mop up duty? Daddy has to get the kids to move out. They can't live in the basement forever. But if they do, they have to pay rent.

Watters: When they meet with the Iranian delegation on Saturday, they should listen to the Iranian BS and then walk out of the meeting and the president should say the ceasefire is off. Market panics, oil jumps and the whole world will see the Iranians as unreasonable. The whole world will turn against them
