No tears from me about the ousting of BOndi, but very concerned about the ousting of the US Army Chief of Staff. He probably told the truth about what a ground war with Iran would cost in US lives...and Hesgarth and Trump did not want to hear that.
Gee, sounds an awful lot like Hitler removing any generals who did not tell him what he wanted to hear...and that turned out really well.
But the purging has begun, and will continue as long as Trump needs scapegoats.
Since it is clear he is going to lose in his attempts to end brithright citizenship, interesting to see how to tries to move against the Supreme Court. He is playing with fire here, folkks.

Hey, at the moment with someonw in the White House who clearly wants to be a dictator, I am pretty damn thankful for the Second Amendment.
Last line of defense againt a tyrent. The Pacifists here won't like this, but I do not have a high opinion of Pure Pacifists.

Personally, I took that as a statement that he's working to get rid of on base gun regulations. The ones that are there to ensure discipline and prevent various forms of crimes. Crimes like, say... an auto coup.

So why won't someone from the NRA go and do what the Second Amendment is supposedly there for: Protecting the USA from enemies within, and from would-be kings. What, are they suddenly too cowardly?

Easy answer there! The NRA's been controlled by far right political extremist activists for a long time. The redefinition of the Second Amendment is a means to an end, not really a principled stand. Going further, though, the redefined far right version of the Second Amendment actually undermines the purpose of the Second Amendment, either way, just like the far right redefinition of Free Speech fundamentally undermines Free Speech. Nothing wrong with dudalb being thankful to legally have a safety blanket gun or guns on hand, but the Second Amendment is the wrong thing to thank for that.

A rising tide lifts all boats. You don't have to be in the NRA to take advantage of the opportunity they've created. Anyone who questions the sincerity of the NRA's beliefs in this matter is questioning the sincerity of their own beliefs.

Yeah, bad faith BS is still bad faith BS, even when gullible fools fall for it. The far right redefinition of the Second Amendment really, really hasn't been "a rising tide lifts all boats," either way, so much as an excuse to try to get away with increasingly worse abuse and irresponsibility under a thin facade of respectability.

All I'm saying is that the NRA has cleared the way for you to do the needful, if you think it needs doing and is worth the price of you doing it.

Except that the far right political activists that co-opted the NRA and pushed that politically motivated redefinition so successfully didn't do that, no matter how much they like to promote the myth that they did. Said "needful" has been on the table all along, with no need to pervert the Constitution and public discourse to secure it.
