Ed Israel/US Attacks Iran /Yet Another Country/Iran

It was all to fix the markets

At 7:04 AM ET today, President Trump said "the US and Iran have had productive discussions" to end the Iran War.

By 7:10 AM ET, the S&P 500 surged +240 points adding +$2 TRILLION in market cap.

27 minutes later, Iran completely denied all of President Trump's claims and said there has been "no contact" with the US.

By 8:00 AM ET. the S&P 500 had fallen -120 points erasing -$1 trillion in market cap.

That's a $3 TRILLION swing market cap in 56 minutes, just in the S&P 500.

Utter garbage. Unless you've had approval from Iran to traverse Hormuz you're playing Russian Roulette.
You moved the goalpost. You claimed it was fair that Iran was only attacking countries involved in the attack against it, as per their claim. But that claim was a lie.
Maybe they did intend to hit the Thai shop. Sad for the crew but you takes your chances.
But that's not what Iran said. And you defended what they said, not what they did. Which is the point: what they said was a lie. One you believed. Why did you believe their lie?
I don't hate Israel at all and if they want me to stop criticising them all they need to do is stop committing genocide.
Of course you hate Israel. Which is why you tried to drag them into the question of who Iran was targeting. You can pretend to be a neutral observer to all this, but you aren't neutral at all. And when you spread blood libels at the same time you pretend that you don't, your charade becomes transparent.

I'm saying that that would be something the United Nations is set up to address.

Not Israel, not the US.

But you have made it clear that those two States get to do what they want.

That's a dodge. Are you not capable of forming your own opinion? And I'm not even asking what to do about it, I'm just asking whether or not it's fair.

And you can't even do that. Pathetic.

Trump is threatening the existence of Iran and you think it is important for Iran to be fair?
Fairness was The Atheist's standard. If you have an issue with that standard, take it up with him. I'm just examining his standard.

And Iran's current government doesn't have any right to exist. It has no moral legitimacy. It only exists because it's been able to kill enough of its own people to stay in power.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonald Trump

PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, TO PUT IT MILDLY!!!
The character slogan on the box for old school Megatron was "Peace through tyranny" which I always thought was a fun poke at that Goldwater and up era Republican policy/sloganeering (though it was more famously used by Chamberlain) from comics writer Bob Budiansky.

His latest threat against Iran's biggest power plant, with a two-day ultimatum (not "Two Weeks"?) is a big deal. If it goes through, I believe it will definitely be a war crime as described in a post I saw. Oh, to see him on trial on the world stage! (But that would mean thousands of civilians affected or killed, so I'm not hoping for it.)
It's a good thing that Trump has shown that he's personally utterly reliable and negotiates from a position of strength and in good faith.

And it's also a good thing that he and Netanyahu have given the Iranian regime an off ramp without their personal deaths.

I'm also glad that there are no religious fanatics involved in any of the three countries.

how would my or your opinion matter?
Fair is a stupid concept when it comes to inter-nation disputes. That is why the US set up an International Order where no one would make decision about war on the basis of "fairness".

But if you are so concerned with fairness - is it fair for the US to ignore the human rights violations of North Korea, or Saudi Arabia, or Israel?
How is it fair to blow up boats in the Gulf of Mexico and watch the surviors down?

how DARE you talk about fairness in light of the actions of this US and the Israeli Government?

You get funnier by the post.

Given that America spent years funding Saddam Hussein to try to wipe the Iranians out, the moral high ground in the middle east is well below low-tide mark.

And let's not forget the support of Iraq against Iran was down to USA's failed support of a regime with every bit as inhuman a record as the Ayatollahs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohammad_Reza_Pahlavi#Human_rights_violations

Matter in what sense? It won't change events in the world, sure. But our opinions are part of this discussion, and relevant to this discussion.

Direct that complaint to The Atheist, it was his standard.

I note that you are still avoiding answering the question. And again, *I* didn't bring up the question of fairness, The Atheist did.
