A senile old man keeps wandering in to periodically repeat the same nonsense over and over again. Not sure if it's a 50 first dates situation where they forget they've already said all this before and had it explained to them why they're laughably wrong. I noticed that there was no concern or outrage at the murder of Charlie Kirk. From skeptics who support science and reason. And maybe freedom of thought and speech. I did notice that there were comments on women's fashion, though.

Open discussion in the town square. We can make some fairly confident guesses at countries where Kirk and Dawkins would both be dragged away to a prison for polite questioning. But, in the United States, the one who studies a top selling book about the supernatural realm has to watch his back.

There was instant and unequivocal condemnation of it from left-leaning politicians and leaders, as well as people on this forum. Conversely there was an instant storm of conspiracy-mongering from the right.

If I had intended it to be a blanket statement I would have said "all people on this forum." I was responding to a statement claiming there was no concern or outrage from skeptics. That's the blanket statement.

I will repeat something that you seem to have missed. Kirk himself said that empathy was a sin, so your demand that anyone feel concern or outrage goes against his wishes. Also, Kirk himself said people being murdered in the town square was a price he was willing to pay so that mentally imbalanced people still had unfettered access to firearms. If Kirk was willing to pay this price, and if Kirk didn't want anyone to feel empathy for him, then why should we?

Another thought was that Kirk's murder could be traced back to the 2016 election. When my wife told me that Trump had won, I turned on the national news for a day and a half. I thought there must have been a journalism edition of Sesame Street that morning and the word of the day was illegitimate. Unhinged was the word which immediately came to mind. This real estate developer turned TV personality somehow brought to the surface some real emotion which I still cannot explain. That emotion could have been directed toward others.

My points of reference for national news are Frank Reynolds, Howard K. Smith and David Brinkley. They may very well have been loyal Kennedy Democrats and may have been privately distraught in 1980 (Reagan). However, they knew what their job was and in a mostly objective manner, presented the news.
