Considering how he wrote an OpEd for the New York Times that advocated using tanks on American people, that is really saying something.
Well, Trump's base does include evangelicals who think the end times are nigh, so I could almost see some of them unironically chanting: "No more years!"

I don't think that's even it; I think his base judges the good and bad of a thing not on what Trump says about it, but by what the people they hate say about it. If one of their bugbears -- Hillary Clinton, AOC, the pink-haired barista at their Starbucks, whoever -- says a thing is bad (or they think those people would say it's bad) then Trump's base hails it as good. It's spiteful contrarianism, not real-though-mistaken belief in a particular policy. That's how Trump's base is able to ignore Trump's blithering and hypocrisy and obvious nuttiness-- they're not really listening to him, they're just reacting against those they believe to be their enemies. Even if that conversation occurs entirely within their imaginations.
