There's almost a logic to it. If someone assessed the people on the boat to be in a fight, blowing the boat up has actually made very little difference to the actual level of engagement in a fight that they have, given that it was pretty much at zero to start with.

Yeah, exactly, they like what he said--which is that he would save their guns, kick out illegals, put church back in school, let no men play in women;s sports, and make abortion illegal. That's it in a nutshell. And at least to some extent, he is and will deliver on that promise. Now, I think that it is 'stupid' even if you believe in those policies to allow a conman, sexual predator, and felon to implement those policies, but as this forum and every other forum on the internet demonstrates, identity politics is huge along with cognitive dissonance. So while you can call them 'idiots'--they are still doctors and lawyers and scientists and some very intelligent people. Forgetting their humanity is part of why we are in this mess.

As a bit of an aside, there is a (albeit not as large) third reason people voted for him--some wanted the chaos they knew he would bring, in hopes it would destroy the system. They hated both parties but recognized Trump would obliterate the status quo, which is true. Many get hurt in the process, so in that sense it was a foolish move, but it was calculated, and when you recognize that the Democratic Party has also been complicit in exponential wealth inequality and disregard for workers, it is not really that 'dumb' to think that way.

They have literally claimed that they were attempting to right the boat to "get back in the fight". How they were supposed to fight back against remote drone operators wasn't expanded on.

Yup, got bombarded with this over Thanksgiving weekend when I visited the parents.

There was a high profile murder, by a Muslim. Tragic? Yes. But you'd think Muslims were committing 100's of murders a day in the USA the way they were going on.

Cancel all the visa's of all the guys in Afghanistan who helped the CIA, because of one guy! Send them back, I don't care if the Talliban muders them. If we don't get rid of the muslims then they'll take over like the UK were police can't even go into neighborhoods and they will force girls to wear the Burka! And then guns will be banned, and then sharia law is coming!
