Trump's Second Term

Reporter: How much of the cost of tariffs are picked up by Americans?

Trump: I think very little—when you add the trillions our country is making, when you add the fact that I will be giving $2,000 to middle income/low income people, when you add the add the fact that we have no wars and we are respecting again…

JFC, can this imbecile ever actually answer a question?

If he's allowed to preface it with "I think" so it's just an opinion and you can't fact-check him, maybe.

He does think this is how it's supposed to work though. He got sold the idea that protectionist policies would push up prices but also boost the economy, and economic growth would more than compensate for the increase in costs. Eventually. Probably eventually. But right now is the bit where stuff just costs more because of the tariffs and the get-rich bit hasn't started yet. Fingers crossed, eh?

There is just no way to spin the story as "it's nothing." All the other stuff can be "it's just politics." Snap recipients can be turned into lazy or losers. The Republicans talking about Epstein have nothing to say. The moment you start defending pedophiles your career is over. Even saying something like "Trump has changed" would just admit he was a pedophile.

Yey! There is no way out of this. It may drag on till election...and then they will lose.

Hence the rather extreme lengths that they've gone to to suppress it all? Even with everything, this stuff is coming out right after the election, which rather suggests that the timing is quite intentional. It didn't directly affect the election and it is the longest possible time before the next election to do damage control.

“Donald trump knew that I was thirteen”Katie Johnson is one of the victims of Donald J Trump in the Epstein Files. Now big protests in DC for this.

Recent Developments
The allegations have resurfaced in recent news due to the release of Jeffrey Epstein's emails and the fact that Johnson's former lawyer, Cheney Mason, has broken his silence for the first time in nearly a decade. Mason maintains that his client was telling the truth and that her claims were vetted before the lawsuit was filed. Epstein's emails show him discussing the Reuters story about the lawsuit with Michael Wolff.

In another bit of minor, but notable news -

Sen. Whitehouse Goes Solo to Climate Summit — and Says Trump’s State Dep't. Tried to Lock Him Out

Yeah, Trump and co actively worked to interfere and make things a logistical nightmare.

With that said, though -

Former Vice President Al Gore, who is also attending the summit, took note of that sentiment in an interview Thursday with Politico. “There are two schools of thought” about the U.S. absence, he said. “The first says it’s damaging that no one from the U.S. government is here. But the other school of thought is, since [Trump is] so psychopathically focused on destroying any potential solutions to the climate crisis, it’s just as well that he has stayed away and that his minions are not here either.”

My opinion includes both, really. I agree that Trump and co not being there is a good thing, because all they would do is work to sabotage everything as is pretty much what they're doing here at home. It's still bad that the US was underrepresented overall, given how much the US contributes and has contributed to the problem and how the US sabotaging diplomacy, cooperation, and efforts to deal with the present reality to make a better future is counterproductive all around.

As I noted when Trump was elected again, though... enough people in the US were morally and/or intellectually bankrupt, so a heck of a lot more people in the US get to look forward to being financially bankrupt.

In 2021, Schitler pardoned a man who had been convicted of running a Ponzi scheme.

Guess what he did next.

Ponzi Schemer Who Won Trump Clemency Gets New 37-Year Term

(Bloomberg) -- A convicted Ponzi schemer whose 24-year prison term was commuted by President Donald Trump in 2021 was sentenced to another 37 years behind bars for stealing $44 million from investors after he was released.

Eliyahu “Eli” Weinstein, 51, was sentenced Friday for defrauding investors who believed their money was buying Covid-19 masks, baby formula and first-aid kits bound for Ukraine. Instead, Weinstein and his conspirators used the money to repay early investors and for personal expenses like gambling in casinos and buying real estate, prosecutors said in federal court in Trenton, New Jersey.

What a swell guy!

“Mr. Weinstein received a gift that few have received in the United States,” US District Judge Michael Shipp said. Weinstein then “squandered” that gift after getting out of prison by starting again to steal from investors and launder their money, he said.

“Mr. Weinstein is a predator that has stolen investors’ life savings,” Shipp said.

The judge ordered Weinstein to pay restitution of $44 million for his conviction in March by a jury in Shipp’s courtroom. He also sentenced a co-defendant, Aryeh “Ari” Bromberg, to 12 years in prison.

But he's not the only one Schitler pardoned who's going back to prison.

The case is one example of what can go wrong when the president grants clemency to convicted defendants who commit new crimes. Earlier this week, a loan shark and convicted drug trafficker freed from prison by Trump in 2021 was sentenced to 27 months in prison for violating the terms of his federal release.

Heh! He will be the next to be "MTG'd".
I just saw the 'ranting lunatic' posts and response of MTG...that relationship is finished...and now Tucker Carlson is the latest to jump ship. They must sense an accelerating end to this lunacy. It's kind of amusing to watch in real time, pass me the 🍿
Who will be next? I predict Melania will quickly flee to Russia, where under Putin's protection they will release the tapes of Trump and Maxwell's horse Bubba...
