The sinking of MS Estonia: Case Reopened Part VII

Nonsense. BTW you need to spell his name correctly: 'Anders Björkman',
I did.

Hello there, apologies if this is the incorrect email address to use for this kind of enquiry, however I thought I should reach out to you.

I am involved in a discussion regarding Anders Björkman, a man who claims to have been a naval engineer. He also claims that he received an M.Sc. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from your university in 1969. I was hoping that you would be able to confirm whether or not this is the case?

which, incidentally is an extremely common name in Sweden so they probably have numerous ones.
Yet they do not have one who received the degree he claims in the year he claims. He isn't in their database Vixen. He's lying about his degree. He's a habitual liar, much like you.
In addition, privacy laws are very strong but strangely you can find out here people live by ringing a centralised government number or to find out who is the owner of what car.
Gibberish. It is public record who attended a university. You could email my university asking about whether I attended and got my degree and they would confirm it.

He's lying Vixen. He does not have the degree he claims to.

Rubbish. People who train at UCH - University College Hospital - (part of Uni London) refer to it as a medical teaching hospital.
And? It is. It's also not part of the University of London. Nor, for that matter, is University College London (UCL) (though UCL and UCH are affiliated with each other). Nor is LSE part of the University of London, for that matter, it is also independent.

Describing UCL as 'an architectural college', assuming that's what your acquaintance actually did, would be inaccurate.

... As the Ancient Greek philosopher, Chrysippus, said, "If I wanted to be part of the mob, I wouldn't have become a philosopher".
As Carl Sagan said, they also laughed at Bozo the clown.

Being a contrarian doesn't make you a lone genius. Demonstrably having no grasps of the basics indicates you are extraordinarily unlikely to be right by accident.

To be fair, they said they couldn't find it. I'd be surprised if my (now) uni could find records of my degree at a moment's notice, and I graduated in 1982. Goodness knows what basement records from 1969 are housed in.
Indeed and I stand corrected, he does have one. That is a surprise to me given how much of a moron he is but there we go. I jumped the gun in stating he does not have one, and the archivist found it.

I’m sending a digital copy of Anders Björkman's diploma from 1969.

He has a Master of Science degree in Naval Architecture (Skeppsbyggnad).

So yes, he does have one, and yes I have a copy of his diploma now.

PS. See this Vixen? This is how you should react when you've been shown to be incorrect about something, not doubling down and gaslighting.

ETA: Does anyone know how Masters Degrees in Sweden are scored? As in, what would be a good mark and what wouldn't? He seems to have got either a 3 or 4 in everything except chemistry II where he got a 5. I don't know if that means his score for Chem II was better or worse than everything else.

I've done some research of my own, and I think 3 is the worst possible grade that is still a pass, whereas 5 is actually a very good grade.

So he got the lowest pass possible for Maths, Mechanics, Mechanical Technology, Foundry Technology, Applied Thermodynamics and Flow Theory, Construction Materials I, Drawing Technique, Welding Technology, Industrial Organisation, Industrial Psych and Worker Protection, Marine Engineering, Shipyard Technology, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electrical Measurement Technology, and Construction Materials II.

He got a good grade in Linear Algebra, Numerical Analysis, Statistics, Physics somehow despite thinking a-bombs are impossible, Strength Theory, Machine Elements, Transport Technology, Ship Hydromechanics, Marine Electrical Engineering, and Refrigeration & Ventilation Technology.

He got an excellent grade in Chemistry II.

ETA: Of course the issue is that he may well have shown himself capable in these fields 60 years ago, but his much more recent comments show that he has lost that expertise since then. Anyone who thinks nuclear bombs are impossible or that you can accurately simulate a building collapse with pizza boxes is manifestly incompetent at physics, irrespective of any capability they might once have had.

Dementia????
(I know the current clown in chief has made that a general slur, but it actually does have a proper meaning...)

My nan suffered from it before passing, and in the last few years, her mind went to mush.... forgot everything and everyone (she thought I was my uncle...) and was 'back in the great war' for much of the time....

Of course that doesn't mean he's done the same- could be just plain old nuts.....

However, I would say, if you get into Sweden's top uni to do an MSc in hydrostatic engineering and all the other relevant maritime stuff, you would be expected to show a decent grasp of the foundations (physics, maths, etc).
If Bjorkman has a decent grasp of the foundations of physics and maths, then why does he claim crackpot ideas such as nuclear weapons being impossible and that space flight is impossible?

Could be.

I saw it in my father, the last years.
He forgot so much stuff that he used to know or able to do.

It was strange. Some stuff he even forgot that he used to be good at it, but other stuff he still remembered his skill and knowledge in.

Or at least that he, used to, had it. But his mind by that time was such that he truly didn't know it anymore. Only he was so certain that he did, he became, over the years, more and more insistent in his declarations that he was right.

Eventually I gave up on discussing those things, but could not avoid them all.

Nan was the same- she played the church organ for decades and was a superb pianist, but once the dementia got its claws in, she regressed to the point she couldn't even play twinkle twinkle little star.... sitting there tears streaming down her face- that was her pride, and she just couldn't do it any more....

Worse she KNEW she used to be able to do it, but couldn't- my mum had her own organ and nans as well on the front verandah, but we used to have to hide both of them when nan came over on 'day release' like on the holidays, birthday etc- the sight of them used to trigger her that badly....

Always said, if my mind started to go like that, just take me out the back and shoot me....
(if we treated an animal like we did our elders, you'd be charged with animal cruelty...)
:(

Yeah.

In the end, my father didn't even remember that he couldn't anymore.
That's when his frustration truly set in. He just KNEW he could do it and just didn't understand anymore that other saw it differently. Especially as those very others used to come to him, to ask his advice concerning these very things he just KNEW.

Those were sad, and often also angry times.

I have not vilified the JAIC. I simply said ISTM that the JAIC report doesn't really address key issues (for example, the Captain) but of course my opinion means zippo...
Your opinion is poorly reasoned and poorly supported, to be sure. But your opinion remains that the JAIC was materially derelict in its duty.

it was the opinions of key personnel that made me look further.
Your evidence has been discussed throroughly many times. That doesn't change the fact that your performance in this thread is based on saying what you think the JAIC got wrong and ranting about how unfair that is to the survivors and victims.

The idea that I should pretend to believe or disbelieve what I do not believe or disbelieve doesn't make sense to me.
Another key element of your performance is your unwillingness to be questioned regarding your claims. You make them, disavow them to dispel scrutiny, then make them again when the dust settles. That's childish.

Whatever it was it is very obvious to me as being 'classified information'.
And with that wave of the magic wand you evade the same standard of proof you impose upon JAIC.
