Trump's Second Term

The infamous "I'm not a trumper BUUUUT...." whitewashing....

Like any other denier, it simply makes the person saying it look like a liar (and not a very good one at that)

"I'm not a sovcit BUUUT (bangs out stream of sovcit arguments)"
"I'm not a moon landing denier BUUUTTT (rattles off all the standard 'we never went to the moon' junk)"
"I'm not a 9/11 hoaxer BUUUTTTTT (micronukes, space lasers, hologram planes etc etc)"

Yeah that....

Alternately said -

Step 1: Present oneself as a gullible and malicious fool to people who have every reason not to let behavior like that pass without comment.
Step 2: Suffer the inevitable consequences.
Step 3: Blame the people who called you out for what you were going to do anyways. Wait, that's just part of Go Back to Step 1.

for a guy that joined only a few weeks ago to blame this forum is odd

I'd like to know what policies exactly caused the lives of small business owners to be destroyed.

Why do I suspect it was racism or homophobia.

For what it's worth, this touches on an actually real issue in the larger sense... and in a very typically Republican way, at that. Really short and dirty version, though? Natural changes in supply and demand happen due to changing conditions. Republicans have repeatedly and rather consistently acted to make things worse for the little guys as those happen, with negative effects that spread more broadly and lead to problems for those small business owners in question. Democrats neither stopped nor magically undid the damage. Republicans scrounged around to make up any pretext they could to pin all the blame on Democrats and avoid all responsibility for the harm they just kept doing and create the impression that they are actually on the side of those they act to harm.

Naturally, the reality is nearly always going to be more complicated than that in the details, but that's the big picture in a nutshell.

i agree, it’s really observable that we’ve enacted right wing economic policies of deregulation and tax cuts and privatization of public services and in that time wealth inequity has skyrocketed and virtually every service and function of government has gotten worse. and what you’ve gotten in return is fiscally irresponsible as well, as the debt to gdp ratio keeps getting worse and the deficit wider. even now, they’re cutting entire departments and laying off millions of employees and still the economy stalls and they’re borrowing covid levels of money to keep the skeleton crew of a federal government funded. and they still want to cut more services.

it’s absurd at this point to argue otherwise. absolutel denial

let’s not forget too that elon musk was supposed to write an algorithm to fix the budget but instead let a guy named big balls, who latter got his ass kicked, take that over while he installed a bunch of software into the department of the treasury and ended all the investigations into his finances. then he got his ass kicked and quit too. but we’re going to let that slide too, that’s already been completely forgotten about.

and his kids are just straight up running Ponzi schemes with crypto and giving him a cut while he sells pardons to guys for money laundering north korean hacker groups and acts like he doesn’t even know he did it.

what can you possibly say to these things? it’s indefensible

"But but but I had to vote for this because some liberals called me names!"

Mr. President we're going to have you get an MRI but we can't tell you why because it's a surprise

Q: Why did Trump get an MRI at Walter Reed?

LEAVITT: As President Trump said, he would inquire with the physicians. I'll check back on that. Every
single the day president is in optimal physical health
Does he come out of his coffin every single night?

I can't argue with the fact that MTG is one good martini away from being a total wack job, but at least sometimes, she can be a useful one:

Marjorie Taylor Greene calls it 'an embarrassment' that the Republican-led House isn't in session during the shutdown

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene used an appearance on "The View" to take direct aim at her own party, saying it’s “an embarrassment” that the GOP-controlled House is not in session more than a month into the government shutdown.
“I want all federal employees to be paid. I want all the programs to be funded,” Greene, R-Ga., said Tuesday on the ABC show. “That is our job, all of us together, Republicans and Democrats, in the House and the Senate.”

Greene, who has not held back from faulting fellow Republicans during the standoff, said Tuesday she had grown “really tired of the pissing contest in Washington, D.C., between the men.”
Her frustration was especially pointed toward House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.. Greene said that she “yelled at” him last week, and criticized her party for failing to plan for expiring Affordable Care Act subsidies, which, though she is not a fan, could leave millions of Americans facing higher insurance costs next year.
